This was a lovely beach. Easy parking and a short walk down to the beach. Some interesting history. Peaceful. A bit cold the day we went but could imagine a picnic on a lovely beach on a sunny day would be a nice day out.

A lovely little spot away from town. Has some cool walking tracks to the other bays. Would be a fabulous place to go during the summer.

This is an interesting beach with a little bit of history. Good parking and access to the beach (you may have to wade through a stream). Golden sand. Forest walks. Lookout point.

Decided to check out the Sailors grave and was nicely surprised to see it it in very good condition thanks to a local family looking after it after it had been vandalized previously. The beach is lovely and the walk over the hill to the next bay is good too with some nice lookout points.

There are so many top beaches on the coast of New Zealand and this one is up with the best. A bit off the beaten track but that is part of its attraction as hardly anyone goes there. A very beautiful beach with lovely soft sand and clear waters.

Another beautiful spot along the way to another beautiful spot. A lot of that here in New Zealand, and summer brings nice surf breaks. Great people watching at a historical site of tough navigational prowess.

A little hard to find but well worth it. An idealic Beach with beautiful breaking waves. Not a full on as Tairua Beach as the wave break is generally further off shore. There are always dangerous rips as with any NZ Beach so be aware and swim safe.

Large sandy beach with big breakers - great fun to swim in. Far less people than Cathedral Cove or Hot Water beach. A lovely place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny day - which is just what we did.

Lovely quite beach. Easy walking beach. Also enjoyed the swim and the fact not crowded as we went mid week. Would thoroughly recommend.

Our hosts told us about this beach, indicating it is where the locals go. And it was so nice! Beautiful and quiet on a mid-week afternoon, we'd definitely recommend a stop here - it is only a few miles out of town on the way north if you are heading to Hot Water Beach or Cathedral Cove.
