We road the trail today from end to end about 20 miles round trip. It was a little confusing on the trail route as you leave the Art Gallery but we eventually figured it out. The first 3-4 miles are not very picturesque as you weave through commercial areas but as you go farther north it is more residential and eventually rural. There are quite a few rest areas, some with water, but there are no restrooms along the way. Your have to be careful when you cross roads as quite a few are not marked as crosswalks so vehicles blow through without slowing what so ever. Overall nice trail to get some exercise but don't go for the scenery.

Well made bike and walking trail that reaches from the city center to the brush land. Neatly avoids car traffic yet it crosses numerous major boulevards with traffic lights and crosswalks. Quite a bit of bird life. Have managed to see over 20 species of birds in one hours traveling. I commute here regularly from home to work. Beats driving a car any day.

We discovered this trail when looking for somewhere to ride bikes, It is a awesome trail and great for picnics and family fun. Has different sections of where battles took place and the birds watching is awesome as well.

While visiting historic Brownsville,Texas do not miss the Battlefield Trail. There were two major battles here during the US-Mexican war. One of them is "Resaca de la Palma" and the other is "Palo Alto."
Both were unique in that, while the Mexicans used the more familiar Napol;eon 9 pounders as the artillery pieces, the Americans, under Colonel Ringold used a 2 pound cannon that was actually put on a mule and by moving 12-15 of these smaller guns to sites on the battle fields, left devastating results across both sites mentioned.
Come prepared to walk to see the sites completely, but one does have a "drive through" that can handle cars. Both sites are joined by a comfortable walking/biking trail that has become widely popular!! Take a half day to enjoy this part of American History properly!!

This is the best place in the city to come for a run. I have been running for years now. The lighting is good. The trail is clean. It has water fountains and some benches along the way. It is little retreat for those who like to reflect and be close to nature. It has its seasons where it gets lots of families and slow runners. The cyclists can be very rude at times, but if you are aware of your surroundings, you can evade them easily. It is also very safe. I have never had an altercation here in my years of running.
Either way, you will enjoy this trail.

Simply a Fantastic park that runs about 9 miles through town from north to south. It replaced an old rail road line that was in its place. Prior to the rail road being laid down it actually followed a historic trail that was once famously used by both American and Mexican Soldiers during the American/Mexican War over escalating conflicts over Texas.
Today, the park cuts through a range of our beautiful local ecosystem of resacas, thorn brush, grass fields, and chaparral that exists all along the trail. Whether your there to beak sweat or to do some nature watching, you'll be in for a treat. The trail is lined with local plants, birds, and aquatic life! Additionally, the trails are loaded with info stations that display photos and information related to the history, flora, and fauna that can be found all along this historic trail.
You'll be surprised how quick you'll be slicing through town utilizing the old direct rail path! You'll find trail users of all ages. The trail is equipped with lights that keep the trail lit up all night. All major intersections are lined with traffic lights to cater to the safety of trail users. And rest assured that you'll find plenty of drinking fountains to keep you hydrated. Weather your in town visiting or your from town, this trail is well worth a visit!
