‪We got there later in the day as the bus rides were finishing, but it looked like a great experience. Shame we could not have time to come back.‬

‪I visited on a Saturday. The parking lot was very crowded. I was there for hiking, and I took the Blackett's Ridge Trail. This was a very steep trail, offering outstanding views over the Tucson Valley. The trail was popular, but not too crowded for a very enjoyable, challenging hike.‬

‪Amazing views and hiking trails but know before you go. I was not aware that many trail heads are only accessible via park shuttle, which you have to buy tickets for in advance. Otherwise, you'll add another 2-3 miles to your trek. Plenty of restrooms throughout the park. Bring sunscreen and plenty of water. Dress in layers as once the sun rises, it warms up. Be advised that sometimes the creek water can be high enough to get into your shoes. Bear canyon trail creek crossings are tricky when the water is high and rocks aren't always sturdy. Trekking poles are a must. $8 daily fee but I did see a sign that said $10 for the week which is what I should have purchased because I went back three times. It is busy, which I like because if you fall or get hurt, there are plenty of people around to help you, but if you're looking for something secluded, this might not be for you. I assume it's less busy during the week. Shuttle driver and staff were nice and knowledgeable. ‬

‪We took the Sabino canyon bus to end of canyon and back. Easy and quick way to see the sites. Many bridges were overflowing from the snow melt so we were unable hike the main path (only due to not having plastic bags for feet or waterproof shoes) otherwise it would’ve been doable. Took a few side hikes and mostly saw birds, no other animals. My husband got pricked by cactus so I’d recommend tweezers in your bag if you hike the rugged paths.‬

‪We visited Sabino Canyon with our 5 kids (ages 9-19), all are fairly adventurous hikers. We decided to take the tram (non narrated) to the seven falls trail head to take a bit of the uphill hike off our plate and keep our kids motivated for the hike to seven falls. Taking the tram removes about 1.5 uphill miles from the hike, and in my opinion, the first 1.5 miles are not that attractive. Although this did add a cost for us, it was worth it because the hike really is beautiful once you enter the seven falls trail. Once we entered the seven falls trail in was 2.7 miles one way to the falls. The kids all did well, I would call it a moderate hike, climbing over some rocks and crossing a few low river beds that still had running water (we had some wet shoes but the kids enjoyed it), there were some switchbacks and some drop offs that made me keep my active 9 year old near me. We made it to seven falls in about 1.5 hours and had a nice picnic on the rocks at the base of the falls. We hiked from seven falls down hill to the trail head in about 1 hour and then decided to walk the remaining portion to the visitor center rather than waiting for the tram (which only runs hourly). The hike down hill from the trailhead to the visitor center took about 20 minutes. The entire hike took us about 3 hours and was around 8 miles. All of my kids enjoyed it, and everyone as excited to go home and relax that eve!‬

‪Wonderful hiking, although we almost got lost in few places when we needed to traverse a dried up or wet riverbed, but that was all part of the excitement - so five stars, do not miss…if you don’t want or aren’t able to hike, there is a tram option. We didn’t experience crowds but I imagine it could get pretty busy in peak season..Gorgeous views everywhere and so many beautiful cacti!‬

‪From the visitor's center to the trails, this was an exceptional stop on my visit to Tucson. Having recently visited Saguaro National Park, I have to say, Sabino Canyon offers a very different and unique look at the Sonoran Desert and you really need to visit both to truly appreciate all that the area has to offer. On the day of my visit, the trams were not operating (no specific reason given), though this did not dampen my visit. I went into the visitor's center to stamp my parks passport and get some advice from park staff on what to see and do. I chose a four-mile loop hike that turned out to be utterly beautiful! Most hikes can be easily accessed from the visitor's center parking area. DO read the signs before you venture out and make sure you are adequately prepared to hike in the desert. I'm a fairly well-seasoned hiker and I found myself turned around at a few of the river crossings where trail markings were either missing or not easily found due to vegetation growth. The natural beauty, once you get out on the trails, is truly amazing and you'll find yourself taking many more pictures than you might expect, so give yourself plenty of time, even for an easy hike. The park includes places to fill up your water bottles, and bathrooms are located throughout the park and at trailheads and crossings.‬

‪I have heard of Sabino Canyon and always wanted to check it out so while staying at the Westin La Paloma which is about a 10 minute drive away we decided to visit. The website indicates that no cars are allowed and you either have to walk or take a open air tram ride/tour. We arrived 30 minutes in advance of the first tour departure (hourly) only to discover all tickets were already gone. So we were able to purchase tickets for the next departure in one hour. As we boarded the tram, we were handed ear buds in order to listen to the recorded tour. The tour guide was very adamant that masks must be worn at all times. On an open-air tram!? I realize it is law but it seemd ridiculous and she was almost aggressive about her reminders to keep them on. We settled in hoping to hear all about the canyon, the cactus and animals as we rode but the recorded tour was disappointing. Lots of time gaps and very superficial information. It would have been nice to hear all the interesting facts about the saguaro cactus for example but it was merely named with no further information. You are allowed to get off at any of the 9 stops and many people did so that they could hike. We gave up on the uninformative tour and did get off about halfway back and walked to our car. One tip I'd like to pass along is that you can actually purchase your tram tickets in advance online and I would definitely recommend going on one of the earlier departures. Tram tour starts at 9,‬

‪My husband and I took the Sabino Canyon Crawler to the top, hiked a little and walked down. Beautiful scenery and certainly showed the diversity of the terrain in Tucson.‬
