‪This is a beautiful National Cemetery. Since it's right next to the Shiloh NMP Visitor Center, it's well worth spending a few minutes visiting the cemetery as well.‬

‪This park is inside the Shiloh National Military Park. The grounds are stunning and the location next the river makes it a perfect place for the fallen Union and Confederate soldiers buried there. There are brick lined walkways. There is no driving, just walking in the cemetery. The cemetery is locatdd next to the visitors center so you can park and walk right to it. Don't miss the Batlle of Shiloh movie in the visitors center.‬

‪This was the first time I have ever taken my 8 year old daughter to a cemetery and she was impressed at the design, monuments, and magnitude of graves, especially those of the unknown Soldiers. It is co-located with the Visitors Center so parking is readily available. It is definitely worth the time to stroll through the paths while visiting.‬

‪We visited the cemetery as part of our battlefield trip. It is peaceful and has a lot of history to find if you walk around it.‬

‪I read a lot about each civil war battle. I have studied Gettysburg and Antietem and visited both this past year. They are awesome to visit and the battle comes to life. Shiloh is the same, just as beautifully preserved, just a credit to our park service and park rangers. It is easy to navigate, easy to park and trails are well maintained. Markers, monuments and cannon everywhere. Fields are pristine, woods are beautiful. Tn. river is a site to see. Cemetary is pensive anda tribute to the fallen heros of both sides. In a time of our history when people are trying to forget history, especially the civil war, it is sobering to visit a place like this and really give it some thought. The 12 or so thousand confederate soldiers that died, my guess is a monority of them were slave owners, many I would even doubt if they supported the horror of slavery. Many I am sure were fighting because they felt they were invaded, they were protecting theif farms, wofes, choldren and families. Grow upo America, read, learn some history and please pay attention to our next election and think about what you are doing. Anyway, this is a 10 star national park but my review comes with a caveat. Understand the battle before you visit if you want to get the most out of the trip that you can. I visited during Covid, so the visitor center and bookstore were closed. There were rangers, but I did it alone. The issue is, unlike Gettysburg which occurred over three days, each day comprising a seperate part of the battlefield, and Antietem which occurs in phases from early morning to nightfall, Shiloh is a 2 day battle and what happens on day 1 is essentially repeated on day 2 with the north winning. What I am saying is the driving tour does not start you at Fraley field where I think it should start, thats where the battle begins. You start at a random point and don't make it to Fraley field or the landing until later in the tour. So, you see cannon and monuments and markers, but unless you know what you are looking for and what happened, you will get nothing out of the visit in my opinion. Shiloh is more like Chancellorsville, a large expanse of space, much of it wooded. I couldn't figure out the Hornets nest and peach prchard the way the tour was laid out. Read, study, talk to a ranger, then it will make sense. The battle starts at Fraley field, south of the Pittsburgh landing. Either start there or start at Pittsburgh landing. What will leave the biggest impression, at least to me was Ruggles artillery. Incredible what it looks like. Also, the siege guns that Grant used on the landing and in his last line of defense. I will be back, now I am ready to restart the tour, But, I have to travel the 5 hours again to do it, I will, but not tomorrow. Chancellorsville is next for me. Hope this helps.‬

‪While visiting Shiloh National Military Park we took the time to walk through the Shiloh National Cemetery. It is located directly behind the book store which shares a parking lot with the visitor center. The cemetery is full of large trees overlooking the Tennessee River and provides a fitting final resting place for so many veterans and their families. There is a monument that shows where General Grant made his headquarters during the battle. The cemetery is very well kept and we enjoyed our visit.‬

‪The museum and the grounds are well laid out for their historical significance of the battles fought here and the men who paid the ultimate price. A severe storm had occurred a couple weeks prior to my visit and decimated hundreds of trees, some of which I feel were probably here when the battles were being fought. Cleanup was in progress during my visit.‬

‪One of the most peaceful locations next to the Five Forks cemetery that you’ll ever visit. Get up there and walk around. A honor just to be there.‬
