It is a beautiful beach but there are other beaches around that are less busy. So if you are ok with crowds the this beach will be fine but if you are looking for something quieter be sure to look elsewhere.

I grew up watching Hawaii 50 and other TV shows featuring Waikiki Beach. Definitely a place to visit for families.

Very high traffic beach compared to others beaches visited on other Hawaiian Islands. Lively evenings, note there is there is a free show Sat/Tues 630pm that I recommend. The singers had a great voice and when they ended with Aloha Oe I wanted an encore. The wave breaks locations are clearly marked on a map and the ones I observed had very shallow depth for surfers to literally walk at waist height to learn surfing. At same time, can be dangerous as I saw some (learner?) surfers narrowly missing swimmers close to the surf zones. It's definitely convenient to many good eats, but also quite pricy in Waikiki as you expect.

Enjoyable beach with wonderful views and clear blue waters. Lots to see and do and it was great that the trolley ran near by .

Water and beaches are very clean. There are restaurants and stores along the beach making it easy for options to dine and shop after the beach!

….then you have to go see the world famous Waikiki Beach!! It’s busy for sure and boats pull right up onto the beach which was weird for me to see. But my kids loved ocean/beach time. And a walk along the beach at sunset is absolutely stunning! So cool to see Diamond Head too!

It’s a pretty beach, but it’s way too busy and overcrowded. I stayed at Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach, which was only a 5 minute walk to this beach (which is why we decided to stop by). On the first evening of the trip, we decided to watch the sunset. It was a pretty and peaceful sunset, but there was loads of people around and lots of other things going on. Anytime we passed by the area, it seemed to always be busy and packed with people.

Susan here n Took a while to drive here with the Fam. It was a wild drive 🤪 Last time I was at Waikiki Beach was when seaweed got stuck in my toe N I had to borrow a kind man's slipper to dig it out. 🤣However hoping this time will be better n looked for parking. Hunny and the kids wanted shaved ice 🍧
We got to the beach n Parker n I walked along side the beach. It's covered in tourists! Oh n we got to the spot i'll never forget n let me tell u I saw more seaweed! I pulled out my pocket axe n ran towards it to kill it! Tripped on some dried fishing net n impaled my toe. Hunny n the rest of the Fam come running over, it was a sad time. Blood poured out of my toe n some guy walked by n asked if I was ok. I said no n he was just walking away, I got flashbacks n remembered what I had to do! Parker sat there videoing me in pain n I got up n grabbed his phone, I used a sharp corner to dig out the sand, seaweed was the only choice for the bandage n my toe hated it. Seaweed n my toe hate each other, anyway. I got up n wrapped the seaweed around my toe n walked down to the shore, took off my dress n went into the ocean. My trip to Waikiki felt completed. Please have a beautiful day in waikiki n dont let the pain ruin it. Have a nice day, Aloha n Mahalo for reading this. -Trust in Susan

Waikiki Beach is located right next to a very busy street (KalaKaua Avenue); traffic is very heavy at times to get here. Public transportation drops you off on the safe side of the street (no need to cross the street) right in front of the beach. There is a retaining wall on a portion of the beach to provide a safer area to swim (little to no waves). It's close to fast-food restaurants should you need to have something to eat or drink. There is a very large shade tree between the street and the beach & ocean should you need to cool down or get out of the intense sunlight. Very nice view of Diamond Head Crater. You are safe on this beach as there is a Police Station located at the immediate west end of the beach.

Right on the beach, just outside the Hilton Waikiki Resort, we attended Church on the Beach (Waikiki Chaplaincy) on Sunday morning. Some shade was provided under canopies as the service is literally held on the beach. The leadership was thoughtful and helpful from the moment we arrived, and the message from Corinthians was inspiring. Military support is important to the chaplaincy group and even beach goers not attending the service stood and sang the National Anthem with those attending the service. That was heartwarming to see, a great experience to share. Two hula-style interpretive dances were performed in an elegant, respectful and inspiring manner. The entire service was so beautifully presented, I highly recommend anyone who has the opportunity to attend, go! You will be received with love and appreciation! Worship music was provided by Backstage Revival, a spirit-led couple with beautiful vocals and great acoustic guitars! Big thanks to all who have provided these services for 52 years on the beach!

Where else in Oahu can you go that there is a calm lagoon type beach? We need a reasonably priced accommodation option close to the beach. Thanks.

The Ala Moana beach is the best beach for people who wants a calm like lagoon beach. The water is like a lagoon, no waves, no surfers. It is attached to a park and not to far from the Ala Moana Mall.

We want to come to Waikiki in November and maybe stay at the Sheraton, but I'm curious where the sun sets that time of year? Should we face Diamond Head or is it still better to face out direct oceanfront?

No matter where your is located in the Sheraton, you can go to Rumfire ( open air bar and food attached to the Sheraton) on the beach. Grab a drink and watch to your right for the green flash as the sunsets. Have a wonderful time!

I am visiting in July and would like to know where I can get Dole Whip in Waikiki Beach, especially flavours other than pineapple :D

Shoreline Hotel Waikiki! , Lobby of queen kapiolani.hotel. Nest door to the US Army Museum at Fort DeRussy Park is a tall skinny condo ,There is a concession stand there that sells Dole Whip also google Dole whip in waikiki. Aloha !

We are staying in the Waikiki area at an AirBnB, about 0.5 mile walk from the beach. Should we bring our own chairs or are their places on the beach we could rent? Also, we’ll have a rental car - what are some recommendations on things (places, beaches, restaurants, ext) for a family of four to explore? Our kiddos 4 & 6 years old. TIA!

There are 2 chairs & umbrella for rent for 78 USD from 8 am until 5 pm. We brought on own towels. Hope that helps😃🇨🇦

I was wondering how is the weather in Waikiki so far. Has it been sunny or cloudy? I will be leaving in two days for one week vacation down there in Waikiki Honolulu Hawaii and I was just wondering how the weather has been if it has been sunny or cloudy. I was hoping for sunny weather so I can get a tan. My first vacation ever so I really want to relax and enjoy it. Please let me know thank you.

The weather was nice when we were there in late January. You can look up weather predictions 10 days in advance online. That is what I did to know what to pack. Enjoy!

I planned on going to Honolulu Waikiki Hawaii from march 6 to march 12. I have been keeping an eye on the weather over there and noticed it says it will be cloudy no sun so far for march 6 and 7. And high of 79. Will it still be hot as nd be and beautiful to go swimming at the beach. Plus can you still get a tan and sunburn.

yes to both! the uv index is high as your closer to the equator and the saltwater drying on your skin also speeds up the burn or tanning process!
