‪We visited on Labor Day weekend.

This was a really nice place to visit. It is a little off the beaten path, but there is a paved path from the parking lot to the falls. There are several little wading pools to play in, some are deep enough for kids to swim in. The water was not that cold nor was the place all that busy. Several large rocks to sit on and if you are adventurous enough, you can scale the waterfall a little bit to a wading pool.

This is located in a National Forest, so the National Park Pass is accepted as an entry ticket. If you do not have the National Park Pass, the entry fee is $25 for a day pass and must be purchased at the visitor center for the Whiskeytown Natural Recreation Area. The park rangers at the visitor center told us there was a large gravel/dirt parking lot to park and RV on and a smaller one up the hill for cars. Restrooms were at the top at the small parking lot. There was also a picnic area next to the falls. There is a sign that marks the little road to the falls.

The down side to this area that the park rangers didn't mention was the 4-mile narrow road to the falls themselves. There is a steep cliff to one side and a natural rock wall on the other. We had a 32' RV and I asked them at the visitor center if I would have any issues getting there and they seeming forgot to mention this aspect. There is no way two RV's going opposite directions would be able to pass one another. There are a few small turnouts, but they are not located at the blind turns where they would be useful due to the natural terrain.

As scary as it was to traverse this road to the falls an RV, it was worth it for my 15 month old son to play in the water--he loved it! There were several families that came and went in the hour or so that we were there. There are lots of trees covering the area, so you are not in the blazing hot sun.‬

‪A very easy hike! Don’t forget your swimsuit, the water here is so refreshing to swim in summer months. Easy hike for young kids. Bathroom on parking lot, very clean!‬

‪This trail was a little hard for me to find at first because I wasn’t using GPS, but was easy to get to once I figured out the road to turn on from Hwy 299 - Crystal Creek Road 😆 very short, easy hike to the falls, which were bigger and prettier than I thought. There is a nice picnic area with trash cans and benches right next to the falls, and you can also easily walk down to the fall base just off the trail head. It is pretty steep though. My 6-yr old daughter and I got down there, but there was a family with a dog that was pretty aggressive, so we ended up turning back. There’s really only room for one family at the base. ‬

‪I just love to see waterfalls. After doing a very long hike, this short walk to the falls was so refreshing!
Surprisingly, it was not crowded on a weekend! I couldn't believe this beautiful fall was not packed.
I liked that the rocks were large and could get you right in front of the falls. I ate my lunch there. :)‬

‪Crystal Creek Falls is near Whiskeytown Falls and is ADA compliant. This means it is paved and is accessible to wheelchairs. Crystal Creek is actually a man made falls but you would never know it. The Parks Service rates this as an easy walk and I would estimate it is less than 1/2 mile round trip. If you are looking for a challenging hike, just head up the road a bit to Whiskeytown Falls (see my review for more information).‬
