‪This is an enjoyable 3-mile shaded hike to some lovely waterfalls. The road to the trailhead is dirt, but well maintained and an adventure unto itself. There is restroom and parking at the trailhead. The water is very cold so only the brave do more than wade in it. If you’re around in the winter this is a great hike to do after a rain when water flow is higher. The falls become more dramatic. For a bit of variety you can take the Rich Gulch Trail back from the falls.

‪My husband and I did this hike (again) over Memorial Day weekend. We were at the trailhead at 8:00 a.m. to avoid crowds. I highly recommend early starts on holiday weekends. We are both in our late 70's but have hiked all of the Whiskeytown trails and falls. Brandy Creek falls is about 3 miles round trip. If you are doing this in the summer, be sure to take water and wear sturdy shoes. It is important to take the road all the way to where boulders block the road. You can pick up a trail map at the Visitor center as you enter the park and buy your visitor pass. The lower Brandy Creek falls are pretty and peaceful but the upper falls are more dramatic. There are rails to assist a narrow path on the way to the upper falls. It's a cool place to sit for a while in the summer. It's a good idea to take something to repel mosquitos just in case.‬

‪On this 3 miles round trip hike we enjoyed four falls, lower brandy creek, upper and two upper upper. Maybe we walked little over 3 miles , not sure.
First trail head is little tricky and involves driving on a narrow unpaved road. along the road we saw signs for fall trail but we knew we had to get to the end of the road with boulders blocking the road, parking area and restroom.
Once on trail , it was pretty much straight forward, we kept walking until we reached 4th fall and could go no further. Lower falls is very small and actually unimpressive but remaining three makes this hike beautiful. After second fall we pretty much walked on rocks.
There was only point where we had to think which fork to take, it was very much in the beginning of the trail. the lower path goes to the creek while upper is the fall trail.‬

‪This is a 3 mile in and out hike.
Entry to Whisky Town in $10. Stop at visitor center to pay. Trail head is about 4 miles into park. Last half mile on a dirt road that dead ends at the trailhead parking lot.
For the most part this is an easy hike, but there are areas that you need to climb over rocks and hold onto roots for stability. The last 200 feet is a bit tricky and I wouldn't recommend it it for younger kids. There is a great spot just down river to sit on big boulders and have lunch.

‪This trail and the falls were beautiful. I wish I had realized you could drive within 1.5 miles of the trail! Haha I started at the bottom at Brandy Creek Beach. My phone is very bad at tracking my mileage, but it was at least 6 miles. However, it was nice and challenging and luckily, I didn't see any bears. A man that works there warned me about bears and recommended I purchase some sort of pepper spray, so I just continued my hike with my taser in hand.
Some of the trail is starting to get overgrown, just a small portion after the Brandy Creek Campground.‬

‪We did this hike as part of the April Waterfall challenge and of the four waterfalls listed in the challenge, this was the hardest one.

First of, the drive to the trailhead is tricky. Very narrow roads and they are not paved. We took a sedan, but i would recommend a jeep or something more sturdy. Luckily we went on a weekday so it was not very crowded.

The hike itself starts easy, but is very difficult and challenging near the top. Very rocky and because of the falls, very slippery. My wife almost slipped into the water once. So be CAREFUL!

The view at the top though is gorgeous, is it worth the effort? That's up for you to decide.‬

‪The moderate hike was great! The beginning is uphill, approximately a 500 foot ascent over 1.5 miles. There are a number of pools between lower and upper Brandy Creek Falls. The water is clear and cool! Wading in a pool can be done with awareness of current. Caution with children!‬

‪Brandy Creek Falls is just one of four waterfall opportunities found near Redding, CA in the beautiful Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. The hike is about 1.5 miles one way, 3 miles round trip. About 1.25 miles into the hike you are greeted by the base of Brandy Creek Falls. They continue on up, with a trail closely following the cascading falls. Complete with creek crossings, boulder hopping opportunities, and a nice spot to sit and enjoy the view at the top of the Falls, this is one of the most beautiful (and shaded!) hikes in the area.‬

‪Brandy Creek Falls has two options, a long, five-mile walk through a forest or you can drive those five-miles and walk the last 1.5 miles to the falls. I decided to take a walk in the woods! The forest hike is pretty flat and you only cross a stream 3 times, so it is very manageable. However, the final 1.5 miles to the falls is straight up hill. By the time you reach falls you have a solid seven-miles walk back. Time is very important because you don't want to lose daylight while you are in the forest until you very skilled at hiking and have a light source. Be sure and bring food and water because it took me six-hours to complete this hike. The Park Service rates this as a "moderate" hike but that was for only the last 1.5 miles. I would consider this a difficult hike when you add ten more miles to the total. Don't forget your parking pass: you can buy an annual pass for $40 from the Park Service customer center just as you are nearing Whiskeytown.‬
