This cemetery is enormous, so many different things to see, so many beautiful statues and monuments. I would love to see how gorgeous it is during summer and fall.

A very interesting spot. We explored the area for over an hour. Lots of history and interesting memorials here.

I was unsure when I arrived exactly what to do. Therefore I parked in the main lot, but then had to walk on the roadway under a bridge to the main part of the cemetery. I would have driven in instead and simply parked on a road. The roads were easy to follow and the graves were striking to look at. There are beautiful ponds and the one had a pair of swans! The cherry blossoms were in bloom and the the whole experience was lovely.

Spring Grove can't decide what it wants to be. They often position themselves as more than a cemetery. Over the years, I've been there for cemetery-sponsored midnight ghost walking tours, 5k races, segway rides, bike rides with my kids, visiting graves, and even events with food and alcohol. Around Covid times they changed the rules without any notice to prohibit certain types of users claiming that their use was not consistent with their primary mission of being a cemetery. They are a private property, they can make whatever rules they want, but the fact is unless you are coming for a funeral, it is possible that you won't be welcome. So just go somewhere else.

Lovely grounds and a gorgeous selection of horticulture. Stunning monuments for the final resting place of 300,000. A volunteer stopped by our vehicle and offered a brief but wonderful lecture on this historic site. And then when we said we were in search of lunch for our next stop, he spent several minutes offering terrific and wide-ranging recommendations. He made our visit special.

Went to Spring Grove with my son to pay homage to my parent's grave. It is such a peaceful and beautiful cemetery. It is a who's-who of Cincinnati with all the individuals behind the major street names of Cincinnati buried there. It's big enough that it takes 10-15 minutes driving to get from the entrance to the back of the cemetery. I almost always see wild turkey or swans, geese when I go there. And now they allow biking which I think would be nice to do there.

This cemetery was amazing. We drove about an hour around the grounds. There are a lot of different roads and more exit signs would be helpful as it is easy to get lost in there. I do recommend stopping. Some beautiful monuments.

⛔️ Long Rant ⛔️
DO BETTER SPRING GROVE CEMETERY
Let’s start with the day after our families loss of our momma we had a meeting with a Ron (Family service advisor) to go over arrangements etc. He assured our family he would be the one to see us thru this difficult time, he would be there for questions etc. He assured us he would call us that evening with further instructions for our family, as for what to expect etc. Needless to say the first of many lies, We never got that phone call from him and the day of burial he was no where to be found. Never heard back from him after that meeting, not a phone call, email, nothing. Let skip forward to April 21st after hearing nothing, my sister and I decided to go down to the office to try and speak to someone about the rest of the arrangements. As our Momma’s foot stone still needed ordered. We are welcomed by a Shilean (Family Service Manager) she explained she was over Ron and she would go ahead and take care of us. We sat in a office with her and got the stone ordered/paid for and was told that day to expect a wait time of 6-8 weeks. But that we should receive a email with a proof to approve with in the week. Again another lie, never got the proof. Fast forward 2 weeks later and after leaving 3 voicemail messages, still nothing back. I decided to drive back down there because no one was returning calls. I arrive and asking to speak to Shilean the lady that was so willing to help before pushed me off to the lady in front, and asked her to look into it. So after the lady out front made a phone call with me standing there. I was told I would get the email that day, they wasn’t sure what happened. She double checked my email address, I told her yep they had it right. Waited a couple weeks longer still nothing no email with proof, so my sister finally was able to get someone on the phone and got the email of the proof on June 10th. I sent the email back the same day giving the okay. Here it is June 20th and yet again lied to, was told we would get a call back from Shilean herself with a date and nothing. Tomorrow is 2 months since this foot stone was ordered and still have no date from Shilean, not even a phone call back like promised once again. I honestly can’t believe how we have been treated here thru out this process. This is the last thing a family should be dealing with after the lost of a loved one.

Grew up in Cincinnati but had never been here. Besides being a beautiful and peaceful place to walk around, I found it was a collection of Cincinnati names I've heard all my life as names of streets, buildings, companies, etc, and sparked my interest in looking up the history of some of the people resting here. Note that this place is huge and walking the whole thing would take quite a while and you'd need to be in good shape. Start at the visitor center where maps are available then drive to areas you are interested in and then explore by foot. Tours are also available from the visitor center if you don't want to venture out on your own.

After visiting the nearby Cincinnati Sign Museum we visited this lovely arboretum & cemetery. We spent perhaps 30-40 minutes driving through and stopping for pictures. Of course it’s early March so nothing is in bloom yet but by springtime it should be gorgeous. For those who have not been here you can pick up a map in the administration building to find noted gravesites and points of interest. For those who shop at Kroger the founder Barney Kroger is buried here plus a number of Union Civil War officers.

Picnic area? We have the book 100 Places to Go In Cincinnati Before You Die and it says to have a picnic in Spring Grove Cemetery. Seems a bit odd, and I don’t want to be disrespectful, so are there designated areas for picnicers? Also, we’re doing a guided tour, so we don’t want to be off too remote if you know what I mean.

I do not recall any designated picnic areas, and there are no grilles or playgrounds. A basket lunch would be appropriate most anywhere. Please leave It cleaner than when you arrived.
Has anyone stayed at a hotel nearby that they would recommend or NOT recommend?

I would suggest to stay downtown (Hyatt, Westin, Hilton Omni, 21, etc).... ... it is literally only 10 minutes away...and allows one so many other items to see...whether sports, arts, dining, history or just character!
I have a disagreement with someone, they say all burials in spring grove cemetery are done without a fee, is this true?

There are fees, it's not ran any different than the next, it's just beautiful but yes it has fees
