this Arch is in one far corner if you are walking towards the Mandovi river (near Adil Shah Palace gateway) , most of the tourists would miss seeing this arch due to its location (away from the main road) and we just happened to see this beautiful Arch while going for a lovely lunch at Greenyard restaurant & Bar located closeby. Sharing a picture I clicked ...
This Arch was built in the memory of Vasco da Gama in 1597 by his great grandson and used to carry a lot of historical importance

The Viceroy's Arch is situated on the road going towards Mandovi river from Se Cathedral. The Arch has its own history and was the entry point of Portuguese Viceroy. Many tourists don't know and tend to overlook this place. The arch has a figure of Vasco da Gama on river side and of St. Catherine on the other side. One can spend around 10-15 minutes to witness the history.

It’s an arch on the road from Se cathedral towards Mandovi River. This has got a story of its own and was constructed by grand son of Vasco de Gama. The Arch has statue of Vasco de Gama on one side (towards Mandovi river) and St Catherine on the other side. It was built as a memorial to achievement of Vasco de Gama. Just visit this Arch on the road if you are visiting Se Cathedral and nearby monuments.

The Viceroy's Arch is very near to the Basilica of Bom Jesus church. A must visit place. The Arch has a history of it's own and was the Entry point of Portuguese Viceroy. Most people don't know about and miss this on the visit to Basilica of Bom Jesus, a Sacred place of worship and relic of St. Francis Xavier.

Old Goa is best known for its churches and convents from the Portuguese era. However, it also boasts this charming little arch which dates all the way back to the 16th century. The Vasco Da Gama niche on the exterior of the arch is amazingly well-preserved. This is well worth the short walk from Bom Basilica.

Arch with a lot of history and some interesting sculpture that was where the Portugese empire's viceroys came to India. A short walk from the central area of Old Goa and the cathedrals/churches there. Would be great if more information or signage around it, as of now it is a standalone monument a bit off the main part of Old Goa.

Comme tous les monuments sont à proximité,pourquoi ne pas faire un saut jusque là et pousser jusqu'au fleuve.Au retour,vers le centre d'old goa, un arrêt rafraichissements et glaces est possible

There was no plan to visit the place but the driver insisted that we should have a look at it ... not bad at all .. though isolated but beautifully surrounded by nature .. give a visit
