My wife and I got to experience our first glacial-rope-team hiking experience with Summit Explorers. The weather held up just enough for us to summit Iceland's tallest mountain, although we were told later that it was possibly the windiest day of the year that people summited on! Although we had little experience hiking on snow packed routes in the mountains we felt safe the entire time. I would strongly recommend you consider Summit Explores for any trips to Iceland. We can't wait to come back and find a new summit to tackle.

Hi to everyone which will have a fantastic day with a Giant of a Glacier Vatnajökull, a super nice and best experienced Tour Guide called Reynir and the highest Peak of Iceland Hvannadalshnjúkur????? Than you must know that this Experience is unpayable you have to experience and that with this Guide Reynir (Summit Explorers). He is leading small groups up to this fantastic Glacier, is funny, full of knowledge and have a very good hiking speed. I was before 10 years ago with a group of hundert people upp there with another company it was not in a simple way to say it was the same. Reynir is very professional in all situations they can come up, has been there in all kind of weather and will bring you safley upp and down the mountain.The price against other companies is much cheaper and the hike had a perfect duration what ist depending of the groups. If i have the choice between him and other companies.... I will take again Summit Explorers with Reynir, because he is not only hiking with you there up, he give you an experience that you can not describe, not forget and almost not to believe that you have been there up it was wonderful !!!

We planned a last minute trip to Iceland with no firm plans in place. We are avid hikers/ mountaineers with experience climbing peaks in Colorado, Adirondacks, Catskills, and the Appalachian Trail. We were disheartened to find out that the crevasses in the glacier presented too much risk for 2 people to hike alone. Thanks to summit Explorers and to Reynir, our extremely capable, experienced, and confident yet low key guide who was available on short notice to join us up to the summit of Hvannadalshuknur. We left the parking lot around 2300 and summited about 8.5 hours later. We saw the most amazing sky. The sunset and the bright moon were visible and breathtaking for the majority of our climb. We drank from the glacier streams, and enjoyed perfect, clear weather. From the summit we could see for over 200km, the ocean and the glaciers from the summit were breathtaking. Summiting with Reynir was like climbing with an old friend. We enjoyed our time with him and would highly recommend Summit Explorers for their professionalism and excellent communication in setting this trip up. We had full confidence in their mountaineering skill set, and ability to safely accompany us to the summit and back. Thank you, Reynir! We will be back as soon as we can.
