‪Stunning and peaceful‬

‪The Taranaki Falls Track is an easy two hour walk through tussock and alpine shrublands walking along good tracks with informative signs and boardwalks cumulating with the Falls. It is very peaceful and there are plenty of native birds to be seen and keep you company. Due to a lack of time and wanting to explore trails that day I did not go onto the Tama Lakes trail.‬

‪Easy Hike to Beautiful Falls‬

‪Relatively easy two-hour loop hike to Taranaki Falls. The trip leads you through a nice stretch of forest along the river if you take the loop hike clockwise. You ascend to come out at the falls with the volcanoes in the background. From there, you have a gently rolling walk back to the starting point with fine views of the volcanoes. Come prepared with water and rain gear as the weather can change suddenly.‬

‪A beautiful day to see the Taranaki Falls‬

‪We had the perfect weather, clear skies, 16C for this 2 hour walk from the Chateau to the falls and around to the back packers lodgings. Trail is well maintained, some good incline steps to make it more of a workout but so worth the journey to arrive at the powerful cascade of water. Be sure to walk to the bottom to feel the mist from the spray.‬

‪Well worth the walk‬

‪Amazing falls, one of the best in NZ. The walk is a steady 2 hrs, 6km, so feels like a good walk, but most people can easily do it. Its impressive after wet weather. I would recommend going in anti clockwise as the best mountain views are at the start.‬

‪Fabulous, must-do walk!‬

‪Apparently this is one of the most popular of the shorter walks in Tongariro National Park. I now know why! The path is very clear and very well maintained. The loop takes 1 and a half to 2 hours and passes through varied vegetation - tussock, alpine shrub lands, beech forest. The 20m falls are about half way along the walk. There are stunning views of the surrounding landscape including Ngauruhoe, Tongariro and the narrow gorge of the Wairere Stream. There are stairs up to the top of the falls where the track intersects with the Tama Lakes Track. This is an easy, must-do walk!‬
