Our 6 hours of sea fishing with Andy just flew by! We really enjoyed ourselves and caught a hefty cobia, and had many more exciting moments when the big ones got away! A really smooth experience, from booking through to going out to find the best spots. Andy was so friendly and made it a thoroughly enjoyable trip. If you love the sea and sunshine, or are simply curious about trying out fishing off the north coast of Penang island near Georgetown, we do recommend that you book with Andy.

Thanks Andy for a brilliant day out fishing. Andy arrived perfectly on time at the Shangri La Hotel Beach and we were out deep sea fishing for around 6 hours. I have attached a photograph of the fish we caught during the trip!
Andy is a friendly, and very helpful gentleman who cannot do enough for you on the boat. It was also extremely easy to book with Andy via WhatsApp! This is a must-do when visiting Penang and we will definitely be re-booking this as soon as we return to the area.

Just an amazing three hours with Andy. We have two children (10 and 7) and we wanted to take our kids fishing as they absolutely love fishing. Andy arrived right on time and picked us up at the beach in front of our hotel (Shangri-la Golden Sands).
We decided to go with the hand-line fishing (3 hours) instead of the deep sea fishing (6 hours) as we know our kids don't have that in them. For kids (and adults) this was way more fun and exciting as the spot Andy took us to was filled with fish, not too far from Monkey Beach. Andy gave us a quick intro as to how to catch fish with the hand line and he is bang-on, within 5 minutes my son had caught his first fish. After 1.5 hours we had caught roughly 30 fish...little ones but the excitement was there.
It rained for about 30 minutes, but it was nice warm rain and we just kept fishing, Funny enough Andy said, sometimes after a storm dolphins come out
We decided to forego more fishing and head to Monkey Beach to check it out, Neat little spot. The beach is quite nice compared to the one in front of Shargri-la but being on a boat / fishing trip we were a little unprepared (should have brought money and a towel) there are a few food stalls and you could stop and have a beer here. Of course there are monkeys around for a few photo ops, and the kids like to see them.
With about 15 minutes to spare in our 3 hour tour, we decided to head back to the hotel...and then we spotted a pod of dolphins (Andy was right!) So Andy moved us into position where we were right along side the dolphins, was such a neat experience. We even caught a video of a young dolphin jump out of the water much like you would see at Sea World or somewhere similar.
Andy is an amazing human, simply guy and just very nice person. I highly recommend booking him if you are in Bate Ferringhi as a means to just get out on the water and have a great experience for you and your kids.
Total price for 3 hours, 280MYR, you can't beat that.

Andy who can converse in major chinese dialect such as hokkien, mandarin and cantonese as well as English and Bahasa Malaysia is indeed a very experienced boat captain that can bring you out for a nice outing at sea be it basic shore fishing or deeper sea fishing which was my pick. Easily contactable via WhatsApp, he can cater towards your needs. I would highly recommend him which I enjoyed my day out with him. A friendly and helpful chap indeed.

It was a very relaxing trip for the kids and I. Nice boat for small group. You get the boat all to yourself with Soon a very experienced Captain was great at handling the boat, familiar with every spots of the coast, guided us patiently on handline fishing. Got us to excellent spots for fishing. It felt as if the fishes were coming onto our lines none stop. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We caught stingray, moo fish, blow fish, snapper, threadfin (I think haha), saw eagle glinding in the sky and monkeys that eat raw fish (sashimi). Excellent service, great time at an amazingly fair price. My kids thought the ride to the fishing spots were a lot better than rides in theme park as well. 5 stars all in all.

Soon was amazing! Picked us up in the boat right at the beach at our hotel. Barely even stepped in the water to get on the ladder to the front of boat. Great personality and great guide. Master fisherman and amazing chef! What a great day!

Andy is in charge.. a great family business and the nicest man you could wish to meet. Myself and 3 grown up children had a ball! Turtle sanctuary, monkey beach and the fishing.. hilarious fun! We all tried it.. the puffa fishes are so cute!! Andy was on time and gave us a great trip.
If you want an unusual fun trip .. book this guy.. he can take 12 people on his boat but we were just 4!! So he’s amenable.. thanks Andy from all the Holt’s!! If we are back in Penang we shall see you again!

1. Communication with Andy is swift and precise. Whatsapp is probably the quickest he has access to and he is very prompt with replies on BOOKING/ENQUIRIES. Answers all your questions till you are comfortable with booking, simple but clear english.
2. PUNCTUAL: Pick up on the beach 9am at THE SHIP BATU FERRINGHI. Andy was on the dot punctual. Helped with loading up the equipment and children with extreme care on a rather rocky sea.
3. Gave details to us right away our destination, why the location (because of monsoon), ETA. en route, Andy gave us a guide on the sea, the conditions, looked out for nature as dolphin, eagles, monkeys. Also showed us a tour of the beaches and nature reserves and rock formations. If he's done as a captain, he'll probably be fitting as a tourguide.
4. The spot he chose was calm, cool and shaded. Set up our equipment quickly, cut up nicely some prawns for bait and we were fishing rightaway without any fuss.
5. Andy is great with children. Set up the boy's fishing rods, showed them how to cast, where to cast, helped to hook on the baits etc. Demostrated and helped catch a couple of fish, easing the boys into action. Identifying the fishes they caught, feeding the monkeys with puffer fish was quite an experience.
Totally great fun morning, the best 3 hours of quality bonding with the kids.
Have never tried another fishing service before, but honestly, there isn't a need to look elsewhere. This is the person to call if you want to do some fishing in penang.

Andy was very responsive on messenger. He picked us up at the hotel beach per our prearranged schedule. We had a couple fun filled hours of fishing and learning about the island etc. Definitely recommend scheduling a trip with him.

Andy arrived at the agreed time to pick me and my girlfriend up from the beach! Rods and baits provided so we just had to turn up :)
Andy was a great skipper, helped us out when needed, caught us fresh bait to use, and kept moving if the fish weren't biting. I was unlucky this time on the fish catching front but my girlfriend managed to catch a big Cobia! High recommend

Hello, i go tomorrow to Langkawi for Some relaxing and fishing. I Travel alone But i am A fisher for big game fishing so i would like to go deep sea fishing. But 700 RM for me alone is to much for me. If it it possible if you have more people that would like to go fishing we can share the price for that specific day. I would have time from 9 June till 12.
