‪A long time coming...‬

‪My father, a French Naval petty officer was held at Stalag XIB for 22 months during WWII, until he and two comrades escaped (three other shot going over the wall). He didn’t tell me anything until I was in the US Air Force stationed in the Netherlands. The camp was harsh as expected and the prisoners heard the Allied bombing of Hannover not far away, he said most of the prisoners were French or Polish, and nothing like the TV show “Hogan’s Heroes”, he despised that show. My visit was after he died and brought back stories, good and bad for me. Site was interesting and worth a visit for anyone who had family held in Nazi Germany.‬

‪Excellent and Interesting collection‬

‪I knew, beforehand, that this was basically one man's mission to preserve some of the history of the site itself and the wider British Army legacy in the area. So I went with good hopes of seeing some items of interest from both the POW Camps and the Cold War era, but not overly expectant because, well, just how much can one man collect? WHAT A FANTASTIC SURPRISE!! Such a massive, varied and comprehensive collection of Personal/Unit/Location memorabilia and souvenirs from all eras, First World War onward. Some of the items brought back particular personal memories for me and to see items of equipment that I hadn't seen for forty years was marvellous. No large vehicles or equipment to see, so don't go expecting any, but the size of Kevin's collection is enough to keep you occupied for hours. Fully recommend a visit to this museum for anyone, but particularly for anyone with a connection or interest in military history. This place deserves all the support it can get. Marvellous.

‪Fantastisk museum for militærinteresserede‬

‪Et privat museum drevet af en englænder der har været udstationeret der igennem mange år. Efter basens nedlæggelse er han blevet der og bygget et museum op der fortæller om stedets militære historien igennem mange år. Et sted der skal besøges hvis man er militærhistorisk interesseret.. Der bliver arrangeret en del events, så kig ind på deres hjemmeside :-)‬
