A fabulous place for a celebratory Sunday lunch. The scenery overlooking the winery is absolutely stunning. We shared the dip trio, charcuterie board and then a pizza with some delicious local Sparkling and then a Pinot Noir. The staff members were friendly and attentive and were happy to accommodate our move from inside to outside so our little one could wander freely while we enjoyed our meal.

My husband and I went down to Melbourne for a four day break,on our list was to visit a winery at The Yarra Valley.My husband chose Payne’s Rise.It was only an hour drive from where we were staying.The minute we walked in,the ambiance to the place a beautiful warm,comfy feeling to it.Our waitress was accomodating and very pleasant and knowledgeable.We had ordered a bottle of Pinot ,which was a light wine for lunch,followed with bruschetta with a lovely descent serve of Pesto/macadamia Linguine,which was absolutely divine.We then tried a Mushroom pizza which was very taste and delicious,and ending it with sticky date pudding and ice cream.YUMYUM..Well worth going to visit..You won’t be disappointed.👍

Had my wife’s 60 th birthday at Paynes rise on their covered deck function area. What a great day. The venue is great with beautiful views over the Yarra Valley. Narelle and her staff were a pleasure to deal with, professional, friendly and very helpful. The pizzas and food platters were delicious and plentiful. Gluten free and vegetarian options were provided for our guests. Our guests were also very complimentary of the wines. Would highly recommend for any type of function.

The location and history makes this a great place to visit. The fact that you can sit and enjoy the scenery with a glass of wine and a bite to eat is great. However the food is more of a bonus than a culinary destination. Enjoyed it for what it was - not what it could be.

We visited Payne’s Rise during a wedding in the restaurant and just before Shedfest however this busyness did not get in the way of a warm welcome at the cellar door and a delightful tasting. All credit to the Payne’s Rise crew for making hospitality a high priority. The wine was a treat leading to purchases and a promise to ourselves to return. The conversation was informative and entertaining. This is a beautiful rural property that is easily accessible but feels like it’s off the beaten track. Have a wander to appreciate the historic origins and antique artifacts and buildings. This was my first visit to Payne’s Rise, though not my last.

We had been recommended to go to Payne’s Rise so decided to give it a try for lunch with our daughter on Father’s Day this year. Even though they were busy the staff in the restaurant warmly welcomed us and seated us promptly on arrival. We chose to share pizzas (yum!) and the dips (also yum!) and settled on a delicious bottle of Rose which complimented the food perfectly. After lunch we went to the tasting room and tasted the Shiraz and Cab Sav. Needless to say we were sold on the Shiraz and Rose. The staff were very helpful with their explanations of the wine. Before we left we had a walk around the historic homestead which is a fascinating piece of local history. Even though it was a cool day, it was great to see lots of people hovering around the fire pit in the grounds. We can’t wait to return and will be attending Shed Fest this weekend! Great winery.

We decided to travel to Seville to Payne's Rise for a relaxing day out with friends. The weather was fantastic so we decided to eat outside overlooking the dam and the vineyards in the distance. We ordered the anti pasta platter - delicious. And we also ordered 2 pizzas with the idea of ordering another if we were hungry however this was not required, two were ample enough. We sampled the reds and whites and settled for both over lunch. Very reasonably priced, and the Sav Blac was especially most agreeable to me. The staff were fantastic and the service great. We lingered there after lunch for quite a while and left in the late afternoon . . . extremely relaxed.
I will certainly be back possibly with the grand kids as they have a vast lawn for them to roll around in and interesting historic buildings to explore. I truly recommend if your after a simple lunch of pizza while travelling through the hills to drop in.

My hubby and I were recommended to this winery...we often head to the yarra valley on a sunday. It was a very cold sunday arvo and heard there was a lovely fireplace so thought it would be warm.
Unfortunately although fire was lit it was still cold,need more heaters or something as cold air gets through blinds and gaps in walls.
Platter was nice,pizza dry and lacking topping (few slices pumpkin,rocket and that was about it).
Beautiful place but expensive and disappointing overall.

If you are after a great day out at a smaller winery (by comparison to some of the larger venues), then family owned and run Payne's Rise is this place to go.
Run by super friendly Narelle & Tim, Payne's Rise is one of the most inviting and delightful wineries I've visited. So much so I visit time and time again. Yesterday's visit during The Shortest Lunch prompted me to write this review after another incredible day there!
Large indoor areas, cosy couches by the fire and large grassed outdoor areas mean weather isn't an issue.
The venue often has live music which really sets the vibe for a great day. Worth checking their website for upcoming events.
Cheese platters and pizzas are their food specialties, and their wine is definitely worth tasting at the Cellar Door (especially the Shiraz!)
Highly recommended for functions, weddings, family days, Hens days, birthdays, you name it!

Don't trust your GPS to get you here ,it will direct you towards dead end roads but once you overcome that and actually find the winery it's worth it. Average price for a bottle of wine $25.00 ,which the wine is delicious, not a Lot on offer from the menu and not a lot on the plate, ,pizza ,platter is about it really, best recommend for brunch. Food was nice just tiny, parking no problem , surrounding scenery lovely. Just remember ,small serves.
