A place to watch the sunset in Madikeri. It has a good well maintained garden with a lot of benches. There have a musical fountain show every day which starts around 7 pm though I did not watched it. A nice place to spend time with your family or friends and enjoy evening. They have some paid adventure activities also.

A nice place to stop at sunset and take in the view but it is very commercialised and busy. There's a load of fairly random statues in the park some of which make sense e.g. rhino, elephant, but others that are just a bit random like dinosaurs and rabbits. Not entirely sure what to make of that!

If you love watching the sunset, this is the place to be. Its a lovely garden with a lot of benches from where you can watch the sunset. There is a 15 minute musical fountain show every day which starts at 7 pm on weekdays and 7.15 pm on weekends. Nice place to spend the evening.

This place has a good view but gets super crowded during sunset. We felt as if we have come to a theatre and the sunset event is a movie. It being located at the centre of Madikeri is perhaps the most visited place...but this has led to the lost charm of the place. It got unthinkably crowded during the evening and we could not enjoy the sunset much. Even it was impossible to take a picture without random people photobombing. For me sunrise/sunset is always associated with calmness but with the chaos of people there it lost the essence. I will not recommend this place unless someone has nothing better to do in the evening.

We reached here late evening. We missed the sunset view because it was already getting dark . Should have reached half an hour earlier, say by 5 pm. There was a huge crowd and hardly any place to stand near the viewpoint. Lot of stalls outside if you want to have tea/coffee and some light snacks like corn. Do note that none of these eatables are allowed inside the park so make sure to finish eating before entry or else leave it for the end.

Its essentially a sunset point where you should reach at least 20 minutes prior to the sunset. If you enjoy the view of the mountains this is the place for you. Amazing view on three sides. Its a bliss watching the sun go down the hills.

Thr Rajas seat and park at madikere is attraction mainly for kids, though all who visit here will try a go.
It's basically a park. With Raja seat facing the village.
Better to be in the evening, with musical fountain at around 8 pm

In the heart of Madekari town. Giving it 4 stars only for the scenic views that this place provides of the vast valley. Otherwise place/park not maintained at all. The place can be made a treat for the eyes of any visitor, but it is not so. In contrast, the Sim's park, Coonoor and Botanical Garden, Ooty are so so well maintained and a pleasure to visit them.

This is supposed to be a sunset point but was covered with clouds when we visited.
The place is inside a park with a lot of visitors.
Do not bring a picnic basked as food is not allowed inside the park.

One of the top attractions and provides great view during sunset. Good place to sit down and relax with family/friends.

By what time the point can be visited in the evening

The best time to visit would be about 45 Mon before sunset. Place closes at 8.00 PM

Road to Raja's Seat is as good as any road in a town. Parking is by the road, but finding space is not a problem. It is quite close to the city centre - one can walk down in say 15-20 minutes. It is on a hill, but one doesn't realize that and it is not a climb, because the entire Madikeri is at a height.

Raja's seat and Raja's Tomb are two different places. There is an entry fee to Raja's seat since it is a view point, but Raja's Tomb has no entry fees and it is located along the road.

Hi, I am planning to take my parents to coorg in Sept. Very confused in terms of places to take them? My mother has knee issues, so can't walk much. Where can I take them? Should we take up accommodation in madikheri or kushalnagar? which will be better to minimise travel time to visit any of the places? Need help urgently. Tia

hello priyanka, let me know your starting point. if you are coming from Bangalore or Mysoor, Kushal nagar will be the starting point. from there you should get the golden temple. vehicle will reach up to the main gate of the temple so your mam don't need to walk a lot, after that move to madikari. on the way you should get Cauvery Nisargadhama, but it will not stable for your mam. we need to walk around 3 km. abbi falls also not stable. Raja seat is the better option for your mam. and you can stay in madikari itself.
