Great little town. Wonderful to get lost in the intricate alleys between the houses. Atmosfera colorata nonostante tutto sia bianco!

It is a small but valid museum which can be accessed via the church of San Vito. I was struck by the richness of what was held and I recommend a visit even to those who are not interested in archeology or history.

The is a museum in a converted old church and its annexe. There are a lot of cabinets with bits of ancient artefacts to view, but there is nothing very engaging about them. Info boards are in Italian only, so difficult to navigate. The main reason to come here is to see the remains of "Delia" a 25k years old skeleton unearthed in the last century. The story around her is fascinating.

Entrando nella struttura per visitare la chiesa, mi sono ritrovato immerso nella splendida realtà del Museo delle Civiltà Preclassiche della Murgia Meridionale.
Il biglietto d'ingresso non é esoso, costa cinque euro, e la visita é fantastica.
Molti sono i corredi funerari rinvenuti, e splendida é la ricostruzione della donna ritrovata rannicchiata nella necropoli.
La parte più interessante, e allo stesso tempo emozionante, é il calco dello scheletro della cosiddetta "Donna di Ostuni", riposto in una teca. Si tratta di una gestante di nove mesi con accanto lo scheletro del feto.
Il reperto risale a circa 27000 anni fa.
Visita da non perdere ad Ostuni.

C’era scritto che il museo si sarebbe chiuso alle 20, c’hanno cacciato alle 18. (Eravamo rimasti solo noi dentro) Per fortuna eravamo lì dalle 16. Non me la sento di mettere meno stelline per questo motivo, perché il museo merita ed fantastico in tutto e per tutto!

This museum is small but has some interesting archeological artifacts, including the story of a 26,000 year old pregnant woman found in a burial cave. Well worth a few minutes of your time.

This museum is really specific to the bits and pieces that were found and dated to pre-history. The entrance is the old church, and as most Baroque buildings, it is quite impressive. I found the pots shards and bones of no particular interest but glad they have a place. Very easy to pass up.

Visited this nice church-based museum in Ostuni to see the "Donna di Ostuni" and it was very interesting to learn about this young woman from over 28,000 years ago. More information in English would have been great, but I still enjoyed the presentations.

Si vous ne lisez pas l'italien, passez d'office votre chemin. En effet, vous ne trouverez aucune explication dans une autre langue dans cette petite église transformée en musée de la préhistoire. D'autant plus difficile d'apprécier ces multiples bouts de poteries, silex et autres squelettes exposés ca et là dans différentes pièces. Pas grand intérêt donc. Même le squelette, du moins sa reproduction, de la fameuse femme enceinte (qui nous parle via une image holographique... en italien) s'avère décevant. Gardez vos 5 euros pour une glace.

Je suis partagée pour donner un avis car 5€ pour "ça"... Cela étant dit, c'est très émouvant de découvrir le squelette de cette femme et de son fœtus, datant d'il y a près de 27000 ans et la petite église est mignonne. Mais AUCUNE EXPLICATION dans une autre langue que l'italien (très frustrant). Pour nous faire acheter le "guide", vendu par une dame guère aimable ???
