Our afternoon at Fused and Light was brilliant, providing a fantastic creative experience we all enjoyed, which with teenagers is no mean feat!
Anne kept in touch via email in advance, organising timings and what we were planning for our session. On the day, we learned a lot from Anne's expert guidance - and it was obvious there was so much more we could learn with more time. We chose from an impressive array of techniques and materials, with Anne explaining how different methods and materials might work in our designs. Next time we'd like to experiment even more - we absolutely love how our coasters came out!
Also worth a visit for the beautiful watercolours in the attached gallery, and the fused glass pieces by Anne for sale. We'll definitely be coming again - many thanks for a lovely afternoon!

Recently came by here as we saw such positive reviews from other goers!
Really glad we came, we were completely struck when walking in as we had no idea what we were doing then then started becoming nonplussed at the amount you could do.
As it was our first time we kept it pretty simple and made a couple of coasters to take back home with us.
Next time we're around we're around we'll definitely be back to do something a little more pro, does not break the bank at all either!

Had a great two days at Anne's studio learning about glass. Would thoroughly recommend this craft and a visit to the Trove. Even as a complete novice, with Anne's instruction and teaching we managed to make original prices go art work that we are proud to display. Already planning another visit.

My friend and I had a really enjoyable day. Ann was lovely and very friendly and we made 3 good sized pieces each. Well planned workshop with some great handouts should we want to take this up as a hobby.

What a great time we had with Anne at her workshop. The afternoon passed so quickly. Anne inspired us with her knowledge, enthusiasm and creativity and we all made our own coaster.

I had a lovely day at Anne's fused glass workshop. She was very knowledgeable about her craft and showed us different styles of glass art we could create. After explaining the process, she very kindly let us loose on all her wide range of glasses and colours so we could create whatever we liked and was there to guide us when we needed her to. I got to make three lovely pieces to take home once fused.
A thoroughly enjoyable day and will hopefully be back to learn more.

I undertook a short course in fused glass with enthusiastic owner Anne and found it particularly enjoyable and stimulating. As an artist, I had a different 'take' on what I wanted to do with fused glass, and Anne was more than happy to accommodate what I wanted to try. I was able to select the kinds of glass I needed from her vast range of materials and when the results came back I was immensely pleased with them. When I have more time, I shall certainly go back and make a nuisance of myself again.
This is a stimulating experience and one everybody can try - but it's not the only thing at Fused and Light - there are cards, prints and original paintings on show too, and Anne's range of fused glass encompasses everything from pieces for display to jewellery.
There is no cost to visit, but very reasonable fees if you want to try fused glass.
Well worth a visit, though not always open.

We made glass coasters with Anne at a one off workshop she had created for us when we were passing through Newtonmore. The idea was quite simple, with square glass bases and we added different pieces and strips of glass and glass crumbs etc. she had a great range of resources and with her advice we created some lovely pieces. The boys really enjoyed it and interestingly their coasters were better than ours! All very pretty and we use them all the time, a lovely thing to take home and be proud that you have made.

I was inspired to get in touch with Anne as a potential first tutor for my glass fusing hobby after viewing her wonderful pieces at a local art gallery. After a trepidatious e mail from me enquiring as to any potential workshops she may have planned, i received a speedy, warm and friendly reply from Anne asking me what my requirements may be, that she didnt have any workshops planned but would be willing to offer me a days tuition. She ascertained my requirements for the day and after I explained to Anne that I had purchased a kiln for Christmas and that I was a complete novice who had never even cut a piece of glass before, she then devised a training day that suited my requirements. I arrived at her lovely shop in Newtonmore and was met by a warm and friendly Anne who made me feel at home immediately with a start of coffee and biscuits and an chat about what I hoped to learn from the day. The session started with an explanation of Glass types and fusing methods and a health and safety lesson on using glass. We then had a cutting session and with much laughter I managed to cut a straight piece of glass, she also showed me how to cut wavy glass and how circles were produced. All the the tools and materials were provided by Anne. I then made a coaster using fibre wool and firing paint which was great fun, then another talk about fusing times and the kiln. Then it was time for lunch. The afternoon was as much fun as the morning and I made another coaster, this time using confetti and opaque glass and a pendant with dichroic glass. I would have been able to make anything in the afternoon session as all the glass and materials were at my disposal to use as I wish with Anne being on hand to answer my never ending stream of questions, and provide tuition and advice which she did with much patience. All too soon it was time to leave, but not before I was able to purchase some glass to be able to start on my own projects straight away. In all I had a fantastic time and learnt enough to have the confidence to start on my own projects at home. The handouts that were provided have been a very useful source of reference and I still marvel at the three pieces of work that Anne sent me after the workshop once they had been fired. I am eager to join Anne again for a days workshop to learn more from her in her lovely shop and I am grateful for her arranging one to one tuition, even though she didn't have a scheduled workshop planned until this year. I would highly recommend her as a tutor and also a visit to her shop, Fused and Light to delight in her wonderful works of art.
