Michael is very knowledgable about the night sky and seeing what just look like points of light that turn out to be planets is amazing. And we saw the moon in close up. If you go to Rubyvale its worth the visit.

We were lucky enough to get a private astronomy tour while we were staying at the motel and it was just fantastic. The host was knowledgable and friendly and pointed out some really interesting stuff. If you are looking for something to do at night in Rubyvale this has to be the winner.

The presentation given by our host Mick ( Builder of the scope) and views thru the telescope was absolutely mesmerizing

Unbelievable tour. Mick is so informative and we learned so much, peaking our interest in the night skies. We saw Jupiter with it's moons, Saturn with its rings and much more. Outside we spotted satellites zooming across the sky and were lucky enought, and as Mick said the highlight was seeing three of them all in a row! There is a fee for the tour but so worth doing.

A very great experience by a passionate. Good explanations of the stars and constellations. We can see many things with the telescope : Jupiter and their moons, nebula, the moon... Thank you again Michael

Great place to stay lovely accommodation, cool gem shop and observatory. Hosts are welcoming and very friendly rooms are fantastic.

Small children aren't welcome, and even if you are old enough, they seem a little put out about having you there. It's a pity really.

Our night sky tours are for Adult groups (2-8 people) to enjoy a night with the stars. We currently don’t have a program for families or school and education groups . We do encourage visitors staying on the Gemfields to enquire whether the observatory is open – but predominately it is our guests. If the weather is clear of cloud and the observatory is open and there is room , you are welcome to Book In for a memorable night.

The clouds cleared and we were left with a perfect night. Michael was clearly very experienced at sharing his knowledge and observatory. We saw rings around Jupiter, close up images of the moon and then used IT to see what NASA was looking at. Michael gave the best instructions of how to locate our Southern Cross. A great night of sky gazing.
