Wonderful place, cozy, and all free. Make mud and sea baths in a quiet and familiar location

First time for us so we were a bit unsure but pleased we did it.We even went back a second time. When we went there were a few very friendly locals that explained to us what to do and the best place to get the mud etc (by pointing as we aren’t very good at speaking Spanish but we figured out what they meant). It’s great for your skin, yes it’s smelly and it will take time to get the mud off but it’s worth it as your skin feels great afterwards. Also some locals are there every day so it shows how good it is for you.We noticed people from all over the world had come especially for the mud baths.Give it a go.

We have spent 2 weeks in San Pedro with our extended family. We saw the Mud bath the first day, but were a little bit unsure if we wanted to try it. We were unsure about how deep the water was, if our feet would sink into the mud - and how deep we would sink etc. The last day my husband and my daughter finally joined me. It would have been too stupid not to try it before we were going home to Norway.
So, we went down there with a cut of 5l. gallon of water to collect the mud in.
First surprise:
As we went down the stairs and into the water, the water got warmer and warmer! At the bottom it was so warm that we needed a little time to adjust to the heat. We’re guessing it was about 40-42 degrees Celsius. Fantastic!
Second surprise:
The bottom was firm! It felt like a hard sand-bottom. On top of the sand (or the black clay), it was a thin layer of mud, maybe 2-3 cm. deep. You find the clay by scraping the thin layer of mud away. The black clay itself felt like a nice sand peeling. There were small bits of shell in the clay.
We ended up covering our whole body! :) We stood on the dock to dry, and went back in to the water to wash of. We sat on the bottom and let the heated water do magic to our lower backs. Afterwards the skin felt silkysmooth and our bodies relaxed.
I wish we had gone in the first day, so that I could have done this several times during my stay ❤️

You can approach one of the stairs that give access to the pools, and, for free, take a bath. The water is warm even in winter, and if you take mud and spread it on your skin, when it dries and you remove it, you will notice that your skin is pleasantly soft.

Not sure what to expect we visited was was at the time the No. 1 place to visit in San Pedro del Pinarta on a warm day in May.
On arrival the first thing to hit you was the "pong" but don't let that put you off.
Now for my first hint, take a container to carry "the mud". We purchased a bucket from a local shop for 2.5 euros.
The next thing we noticed was that the majority most people in the "water" were old, possibly due the claims that the mud will clear everything from acne, arthritis, hair loss and most things in between. Unfortunately I can substantiate any of the claims despite going "all in" as you will see from the pictures. Personally I think young kids will love it!
Now for the "event", you head down some stairs into murky water (which at the time we shared with flamingos). You reach down to the floor scrape mud from the floor and spread it on yourself. The bucket...easiest way is to fill bucket with mud a spread onshore otherwise it washes off when you reach down.
Once covered, let it bake/dry, take some pics then try and wash it off.
You, your clothes and anything you touch will smell for at least 24 hours (despite showers!)
Once most of the mud has been removed the sea opposite provides an official spot to have a final clean.
I showered but next morning still had an orange stained head!
Fun day doing something you don't do often and it's free.

Located on Campoamor street, next to the Quintín Mill and also Villananitos beach, an area where the climate, tranquility, environment and landscape make you enter the famous mud of San Pedro del Pinatar or Lo Pagan, some baths that comfort you if you apply them well and let them act by drying them in the sun so that they have their effect.
Try an experience that nature itself gives you.

We arrived without much information about how it was done and the truth is that it is not complicated, you approach the walkways, there you have the mud and you can pour it on.
It smells bad, we're not going to lie, and I can't say for sure that it improves your skin either, but it's a free, fun, and different activity to do if you're on vacation/visiting.
At first it is normal that you are not sure about doing it, but encourage yourself and I am sure you will have a good time!

Very good! Little busy and quiet place. I recommend trying it out. Very hot water in the salt pan. Good restaurants around.
