We spent two weeks traveling around Colombia, stayed in Bogota, Manizales, Medellin and Cartagena, Tinamu Is definitely the best among e the five places we stayed.
It is a simple resort but you will get all try thing you need ( they have WiFi and hot water). Actually, you can’t ask for more when you have the best team and owner to take care of you.
There is a large variety of birds singing songs at dawn to wake you up, the best birding guide Fernando to show you around, we managed to see ~60 kinds of birds and an iguana in a day trip.
We have very limited proficiency in Spanish, so does Fernando’s English, but we managed to understand each other.
Bed is comfortable, Food is fantastic, we stayed for two nights at Tinamu, had one lunch, two dinner and breakfast, the dishes never repeat and are gorgeous.
The owner Clarita and his husband Maricio are super nice and helpful.
The resort is about 30-45 min away from town and literally have no other restaurants or entertainment around. but who need these things when you are already in the heaven?

Tinamu is Situated in a forestry environment where you feel relax, cozy, fresh and happy. Hummingbirds are everywhere in the resort. Sitting comfortably watching Hummingbirds are so enjoyable. You will see a lot more birds walking in the forest trail. You will also see 70-80 years old coffee trees grow naturally in the forest. All the rooms in Tinamu are ‘bird decorated ‘. It’s a bird paradise and a birder paradise as well. It’s somewhere you cannot miss in Colombia.

Beautiful, secluded place for bird watching which is still close to Manizales (45 min drive). We spent 1 night, and woke up early to go bird watching with Fernando. He's a great guide, we were able to spot about 40 different species! Nice, clean hotel, delicious local food and the service is excellent. Would definitely recommend if you love nature. The hikes are not difficult, but the paths can be muddy so take proper shoes (also lots of mosquito repellent). If you stay longer, they can also arrange trips to other popular bird-watching sites.

Tinamu es una reserva de bosque subandino de once hectareas muy bien cuidada con más de tres senderos y varias cabañas. Fernando y Luz son personas muy amables y atentas a lo que uno necesite. Vimos más de quince especies de pajaros y comimos delicioso. En carro esta a veinte minutos de Manizales.

If you love birds, this is the love to go. Fernando is an awesome guide and everyone at the hotel is very nice. Rooms are very comfortable and food is nice. I definitely recommend.

Today I went with Fernando birdwatching dir the whole day. Fernando knows where the birds are and is a really good guide! I had an amazing day with him.
The breakfast was perfect!
In the garden of the hotel, were you start the tour are so many hummingbirds!
I really recommend this tour to everybody who loves birds.

Tinamu is the place to go if you are a Birder.The mountains are Fantastic and the birding Fabulous,you have lots of trails,the Birdguides are very very knowledgeable,you see lots of Hummingbirds, parrots,
The food is great,the rooms are simple but very confortable.
You are going to have a Blast. Trust me....

Wonderful reserve for birding and photography. The reserve has several blinds which are ideal for photographers as well as feeders and humming bird feeders. Great place to just sit and watch our feathered friends. The rooms are clean and the food was good.

We had a day trip to this reserve just outside Manizales, and a local guide took us round the old coffee plantation on former tracks. It is possible to stay at the reserve which has I think 4 rooms. Lunch and drinks available at least. Resident cook and reserve manager . Manager and guide escorted us on some of the trails and we saw over 70 species including a Pitou. Over 200 have been seen on reserve. Checklists available. Good hummingbird area at reserve HQ. A splendid days birding in good secondary forest Reserve established about 1990
