Hoteles, comercio, instalaciones.

Our recent Riviera trip to Istanbul, Ephasus, Troy, Pergammon, Gallipoli was everything their brochure said it would be and wellworth the money. Our tour guide Ahmed (aka my friends give me your ears) extremely knowledgable and Riviera tour manager, Noel (aka Herr Click) again very knowledgeable. It was never too much trouble for either of them to give help, impart more knowledge as we were into the trip. The 3 hotels used were excellent the last one in Istanbul very quirky.

Rekommenderas Inte.

Not so well known in the US, this is a popular tourist area for Europe, and far less crowded than the French Riviera. The region stretches through two provinces, Antalya and Mugla, essentially from Izmir on the western Aegean coastline of Turkey to Antalya area on the southern Mediterranean coast. There are many, many places to visit, including roman ruins, charming small towns, and beautiful natural coves. One of hte highlights is to do the "Blue Cruise" on a gulet (the 2 to 3-masted schooners that play the southern coastline).

Before heading to the famous (in Europe, anyway) Turkish Riviera, we had to see Istanbul, and used local transportation to go to the Grand Bazaar and the Oriental Bazaar. Near the Grand Bazaar is a bath house built long ago for a great, if overly vigorous, massage, after which you feel positively boneless. After enjoying the capital, take a bus to Burza and wander through the bazaar there. Rent a small car and head to Troy, down the coast. We stopped at a rug seller, bought a rug-much better price than at the capital, the dealer suggested we stay the night at his cousins small hotel, about 60 miles south . I walked through gate and was greeted by a real vision; peacocks wandering around, two tennis courts and a tiled swimming pool, and marble everywhere. The room was large with a balcony over looking a lovely courtyard. The next morning we ate breakfast on a terrace over looking the Aegean. Our bill came to $40. Further down the road we stopped for gas. They brought us to a table where we were served tea while they washed the car and filled it with gas. We loved Turkey with sites from Troy to castles from the middle ages, and wonderful food. One exception is that I could not find a good wine, but it must be remembered that Turkey is a Muslim country, thus no liquor.
As a rule, travel European cities in shoulder season. Do not rent cars at airports. Walk Up fares and last minute rooms are cheap. And REMEMBER, Europeans are broke too...so, especially in Turkey, break out your best haggling skills. Why on earth not?
If you've never heard of the Turkish Riviera, you're not alone. Americans have thus far rarely ventured to the southwestern Mediterranean coast of Turkey for a holiday, unlike Eastern Europeans, who have been flocking here in droves for years. All that seems likely to change this year for several reasons: Average major hotel prices have significantly and notably dropped from last year (from $193 to $146, almost 25 percent), and in 2011 it beat New York City to become the world's third most visited city by international tourists. The word is out about this city that's part beachfront, part metropolis, and part ancient town. And even though many of the tourists here are of the incredibly wealthy European variety (the city even boasts a megaresort with the world's second largest spa!), the 5-star all-inclusive resorts right on the beaches offer rates as low as $100 a night. We also got a huge kick out of the city's proximity to some of the oldest known architectural ruins in the world. The nearby Catalhoyuk Mound is one of the oldest and best-preserved Neolithic site to date, dating from 7500 BC to 5700 BC.
When to Go: It gets well into the 90s in the middle of summer, so it's best to visit in September through October, or May through June. While it never gets particularly cold in the winter months, you won't want to take a dip in the chilly Mediterranean then either.
Get those Cheap Fares: If you just google cheap fares to Turkey, you'll get lots of sites like travelzoo, farecompare and skyscanner to find them for you. When you've got the best online fare, then call the carriers yourself to see if the have unadvertised specials for the dates you have in mind.
Get Free Vacation Parking: Since the Airport charges an arm and a leg, and then I get my car back all messed up inside and covered with pigeon poo outside, I now routinely arrange a hotel and parking package deal and leave my car in the care of the hotel while I'm away, for the cost of one night's stay. I've been using stay123 for these setups, and now I'm spoiled and can't do without them.
Get Free Phone Calls : For heaven's sake, dont fork over the king's ransom charged by hotels to call home, or anywhere for that matter. You do know there are apps galore for that, right? And that you can skype on the free wifi at the cafes and libraries, right? Didn't think of that? The savings will be monstrous (it cost me $280 to talk to my mom from the hotel room, and that was the last time that was ever going to happen!)
Something for women to consider: If you are going to get all adventurous in Turkey and wander off the beaten path - and its beckoningly interesting and exotic, so you may want to - I hope you know that if you are showing any skin at all and you are dressed in a way you innocently consider cool, you are wearing a sign that says "I am a brazen American/Australian/English lady", just so you know, in case that wasn't the sign you had in mind. And a Muslim lady does not usually go blustering off alone with a camera around her neck, but will generally go with a friend.
Antalya, the actual Turkish Riviera, is blessed with an ideal climate (except during the searing heat of July and August) and a stunning setting atop a limestone plateau, with the formidable Beydaglari looming to the west. In the heart of town, the pretty yacht harbour huddles below the Roman walls, while behind the new buildings the crescent of Konyaalti bay curves to the industrial harbour 10km west of town. Despite the sometimes grim appearance of its concrete sprawl, Antalya is an agreeable city to live in, but the main area of interest for outsiders is confined to the relatively tiny and central old quarter within the Roman walls, known as the Kaleiçi (or "within the castle"). Three or four days in town – including half-day excursions to the nearby ruins of Termessos, Perge and Aspendos – should be sufficient.

Do you still operate tours to Turquoise Coast? We are thinking of last two weeks of June 2018, for a the minimal days possible. We will be flying from Sweden or somewhere in Europe, and flying back to Italy.
Thank you for any information.
