Долгое восхождение, чтобы увидеть озерцо с красной растительностью. Подъем на гору Севастополь (названную в честь крымского города) достаточно сложный и я не скажу, что он того стоил.

Great walk, not for the unfit or faint hearted. Fabulous views from the tarns. A very very steep stepped walk.

A good filler for part of a day with great views from the top of teh valley below. Worth the effort!

Took the stairs to the tarns today. Fabulous workout and views are of course superb. Warm weather so wore running shoes and light clothing, with extras in my backpack in case. Take a big bottle of cold water for the drink at the top. Even consider taking a packed lunch on a nice day as the views are spectacular and the tarns are beautiful. So peaceful up there. Lots of stairs to get up there but it’s doable if you have a reasonable level of fitness. Roughy 40-45 minutes for me but take your time and enjoy. If it’s been raining consider trail shoes or hiking boots as stairs can pool with water.

Die 350 Höhenmeter, die man hoch muss, sind eigentlich nicht viel, aber es geht quasi vertikale Stufen hoch. Das bei hohen Temperaturen und schon war es sehr sehr anstrengend. Der Blick über die roten Tümpel oben in Richtung Gebirge sind es aber wert.

Not an easy hike ! This is a workout and the incline is unreal ! But all worth it as the views were incredible. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the summit. !

This is a lovely walk, but I read about the McNaulty tarns about the red tarns only in a tour guide. If you are an experienced hiker, walk round the board walk loop and go up to the top on the left.. this is fantastic and not marked.. 360 degree views.. magical! Then come down the scree slope.. beautiful tarns up there like you wouldn’t believe...with reflections of Mt Cook in them on a clear day

I worked in Mt Cook National Park for 4 months and there are lots of hiking trails but this is one which many people including myself did once a week to keep fit.
The track starts in the National Park village taking a bridge over a river and then is non stop stairs to the top passing bushes and trees and then rocky terrain as you get close to the top.
It takes around 20-30minutes. On a clear day it’s perfect for sunrise and sunset with a clear view of Mt Cook along with other mountains in the southern alps like Mt Sefton and Mt Wakefield.
If you’re up for a further challenge when you’re at the red tarns, you can see a big rock a couple of hundred feet above you and you can follow the small stream and bushes up to it which will give you an even better view. After work I would sometimes go to the big rock and watch sunset.

This track isn’t easy, but it’s relatively short and hugely rewarding. Hundreds of steps but the view is absolutely amazing!

過橋後，便是「Red Tarn Track」的起點。
雪仍未停，梯級上鋪了一層薄薄的霜雪，但不算濕滑，可以放心行走。
群山仍然躲在雲霧中，但風景已經不俗。其實這裏海拔不算很高，但因周圍一帶都是平原，所以群山仍然巍峨挺拔。
由於一直都是上樓梯，幾乎沒有平路，對某些人來說是有點辛苦。另外，上山的路徑比較窄，中途也沒有休息處，難度不低。
不過辛苦是值得的，由山上向下望，可以看見整個庫克山村。
視野越來越清晰，終於看見庫克山了，雖然有部份仍躲在雲後。
其中有段路沒有梯級，只能夠踏着石頭上去，倘若落雨或落雪，就要倍加小心。
粗眉仔真的非常幸運，縱使天晴但仍然白雪飄飄，為風景加添一份淒美。
抖順條氣後，粗眉仔終於看清楚，原來山上的植被甚為豐富多樣，有很多不同的顏色。
美景當前，粗眉仔忘卻疲倦，不自覺地越行越快。
幾經辛苦，粗眉仔終於到達觀景臺了，這裏有張長凳可供休息，再回頭一望……嘩！
雲霧未散，但整個山谷都已經一覽無遺，風景美絕。
睇手機的的地圖，發現山頂還有條小小的環廻道，粗眉仔見有時間，便繼續探險去。
未幾，粗眉仔便到達另一個觀景點，這裏雖然看不到山谷，卻可以清楚看見庫克山。
這裏有一把對正庫克山的量尺，估計是用來量度庫克山的。
粗眉仔沿著棧道，很快便行到一個小小的池塘。粗眉仔終於知道這裏為什麼會叫做「Red Tarn Track」了，所謂「Tarn」，其實係指這個冰斗湖。
現在沒有風，湖面如鏡子一般，倒影靚到暈。
湖邊鋪滿霜雪，錦上添花。
這條登山徑沒有想像中那麼長，可能粗眉仔體力實在太好吧，不用一個小時就上到來了。
早上時份光線最佳，喜歡拍照的人不得不留意。
太陽越來越猛烈，今朝的飄雪，這時候已經溶化得七七八八。
整段旅程都沒有碰見半個人，一直到山腰時，才終於碰上一對登山客，粗眉仔覺得好奇怪，如此漂亮的地方，怎麼居然沒有人來？
