‪A wander around the ruins‬
زوجان • أكتوبر 2021
‪We strolled into the battery from the road. Was interesting to wander around the ruins. We were too late for the museum. Was a nice stroll for late afternoon. ‬

‪An insight to he hardships our pioneering forebears had to endure The site is maintained , to a degree by D O C but the heart is with 14 non - paid volunteers with an average age of 76 Please consider the work that goes on behind the scenes , and do not be to critical of any perceived shortcomings in the presentation of the ruins .This may have been your one , and, only visit , but you are one of many . May i encourage all visitors to leave a coin in the Iron Maiden ( cyclists included ) to assist with the ongoing improvements of the facilities viz toilets , track , road , weed control , signage, and , (sadly ) litter removal . An especial place , please to only leave your foot prints ..... Just a thought .. Keith‬

‪A ride from Waihi to Karangahake‬
يناير 2021
‪The Victoria Battery Tramway and Museum is well worth a visit to see how mining used to be done. The old machinery and tools have been preserved, and the displays are well laid out. The volunteer docents are knowledgeable about the history of the workings and of the Waihi mine. The walk through the tunnel is worth it for those who are not claustrophobic.‬

‪Interesting old ruins‬
سبتمبر 2020
‪The Victoria Battery (named after Queen Victoria) was one of the largest ore crushing sites in the world in the early 1900's. Although most of the site has been cleared there are still some interesting bits of machinery about.‬

‪Informative tour of gold processing area‬
زوجان • يونيو 2019
‪Good museum tour. Very knowledgeable staff that love sharing about the history of the area. Run by volunteers and they are doing a good job. We did the short walk from Waikino and then on to the Falls Retreat cafe. A good day out for early winter.‬

‪Fascinating industrial remains and historical site‬
زوجان • أبريل 2019
‪We took a good look around this historical site having walked over from Waikino Station (and its delightful station cafe) via a subway and bridge. The remains are fascinating and well explained through the display panels around the beautifully maintained site. The old photographs on display help to compare the past and present landscape. I would have found it difficult to comprehend the vast scale of the industrial complex that once stood here without these.

Although we enjoyed our visit it was a shame that we could not see inside the museum or get a tour of the underground kilns. We had turned up on a Wednesday at 12.30pm, having read on their website that they would be open from 10-3. However, one of the volunteers told me that they were just closing up for the day. It might be worth emailing ahead if you are planning a visit to be sure that the site will be open and to make sure you get a chance to see inside.‬

‪Interesting Mining History‬
زوجان • فبراير 2019
‪This historic site displays the remnants of what was once the largest quartz ore processing plant in Australasia. We visited on a Sunday when a dedicated group of volunteers offers tours of the underground kilns and tunnels, as well as the museum, housed in the old Transformer Building. They provided us with a wealth of interesting information and we happily spent more time here than anticipated. If you are interested in the gold mining history of this region, don’t miss this!‬
