Such variety of sights and sounds in this section of track, easily accessible from the carpark.

This was a good long walk, would be good to do in summer, as can get down to river at a few points. Didn't get to end, but good for children (with plenty of food and water).

We did the Pororari Punakaiki loop track. The native forest is so West Coast! To fully immerse yourself in this area, I recommend doing this loop. We started at the Punakaiki River end and timed it so we could have lunch at the cafe after the walk.

It is a pleasant walk through the native forest with beautiful scenery and be able to view and hear wildlife birds.

We started this very early in the AM and went as far as the swing bridge. Nice easy walk and the scenery is so pretty. Track is well maintained and in good condition.

If you get the chance to do this walk go for it as the track bush and scenery is brilliant. A lot of the walk is totally in bush and when near the river you would almost think you had gone back in time.

An easy walk that is mostly above the river. Lovely views and bird life. There is a seat a little way in where you can sit and watch the world go by.

Just do it, such a beautiful trek through rainforest, limestone crevasses, under huge cliffs. Half day or one to two day.

This is one of our favourite short walks in NZ. Very well maintained track that meanders alongside the river. Versatile as you can take a short walk, a 3km walk to where the track meets the cycle track or do the loop over into the Punakaiki River. All options are easy.
