A beautiful medieval monastery turned into a museum. Unfortunately, I was too late to see it inside. However, the monastery itself is an example of East German Gothic architecture that is worth admiring.

Das Archäologische Landesmuseum ist sehr informativ und daher sehr sehenswert.
Außerdem ist die Kombination mit dem alten Klostergebäude sehr gelungen.
Im Grunde sind es sogar 2 Museen in einem.

This beautiful old church has been sympathetically restored and part of it is now the archaeological museum.
This has well laid out, easy access and very interesting finds and displays can be enjoyed by all ages groups. Definitely a place I would like to revisit soon.

A piedi, andando verso il Duomo dalla stazione dei treni, abbiamo incontrato questo grande edificio di mattoni rossi.
Non abbiamo potuto entrare, ma abbiamo fatto varie foto dell'esterno, che è molto bello e ben tenuto. Ben collocato, anche, in questa parte della città.
Amiamo questo tipo di architettura.

We decided to take a day trip from Berlin to Brandenburg am den Havel, which was the ancient capital of Brandenburg. The train trip from central Berlin to Brandenburg on a regional line took about 45 minutes. From the station, the museum is a 10-15 minute walk to the north. Cross a pedestrian bridge over a little stream, and the museum is right there.
From what I understand, most of the original church was destroyed during World War 2, and the modern building is a reconstruction. Attached to the church is a museum dedicated to regional history. Artifacts describe the sweep of history from prehistorical times to the ancient world to the medieval era and into the modern age. It’s a very impressive collection, the only drawback being that all of the information is presented in German. If you speak another Germanic language, such as English or Dutch, you’ll probably be able to catch the broad themes, but you’ll miss all of the little details. That being said, the artifacts themselves are interesting, and there are many really clever displays. One of my favorites was a “reconstruction” of an archaeological site, showing the different kinds of artifacts that can be discovered as one simply digs down into the earth, with each layer below going farther back in time. In addition to the museum, there was a very nice courtyard. The interior of the church was not open to the public.
The staff were friendly, but they spoke only German. We made do with our basic German vocabulary. There were only a few other guests during our visit-no mass of tourists as if in central Berlin. I highly recommend a visit, especially if you love history and are looking for something different to do. One could probably walk through quickly in an hour, but I’d recommend at least two hours to take it all in.

Schon allein die Reste des Pauliklosters, in dem das Museum untergebracht ist, sind sehenswert. Das Museum bietet Artefakte seit der Eiszeit, die in Brandenburg gefunden wurden. Das ganze Modem und informativ aufgearbeitet. Eine Führung bietet sich an, wenn man einen Querschnitt erfahren möchte. Ansonsten ist das ein Ziel für mehrere Tage.

in dem das Museum untergebacht ist ist einen Besuch wert. Das Museum ist schön in die Einzelnen Epochen von der Jungsteinzeit bis zur Gegenwart eingeteilt. Leider muss man für das photographieren extra zahlen aber die Ausstellung ist sehr sehenswert und mit 5€ Eintritt für Erwachsene ein echtes Schnäppchen

The museum is housed in the building of former St. Paul's Monastery. It is a gorgeous, majestic red brick Gothic style Northern Germany architecture, dates back to 13th century. .
The museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00 daily except Monday. Unfortunately it was not open when we arrived. However, it was still worthwhile to see the beauty of the building.

Als sich das Wetter bei unserem Ausflug nach Brandenburg etwas verschlechterte, war das Landesmuseum ein toller Anlaufpunkt.
Die ständige Ausstellung von der Steinzeit bis zur Neuzeit war sehr interessant und informativ und so hat sich der Eintritt von fünf Euro auf jeden Fall gelohnt.

Das Museum in der restaurierten, einstigen St.-Pauli-Kirche ist erst einmal eine beachtliche Leistung gelungener Restaurierung und Aufbereitung einer im Krieg zerstörten Klosterkirche, die 50 Jahre als Ruine in der Stadt stand. Das Kirchenschiff ist nun ein städtischer Veranstaltungssaal, in dem bei unserem Besuch gerade eine große Hochzeitsfeier stattfand, das Landesmuseum nutzt die Räume um den zweistöckigen Kreuzgang. Die Grabungsfunde aus Brandenburg von der Altsteinzeit bis zur Moderne sind nach Epochen und in diesen nach Themen gegliedert, in der ersten Etage beherrscht von einem zweistöckigen, stratigraphischen Groß-Modell, das unter der Fassade eines heutigen Hauses in einem mehrere Meter tiefen „Schnitt“ durch den Boden zeigt, was unter unseren Füßen ruht: Unter einem verschütteten Luftschutzkeller Fundamente eines mittelalterlichen Kellerraumes, tiefer ein altes Slawengrab und ganz tief im Boden eiszeitliche Relikte. Im wahrsten Wortsinn: Aufschlussreich! Die ansonsten gezeigten zwei, drei Dioramen sind auch so erhellend, dass man sich mehr davon wünscht. Mancher archäologische Befund aus der Neuzeit könnte statt in der Ausstellung der Fundobjekte vielleicht besser im Arrangement oder mit einem Diorama präsentiert werden.
