Ashamed, the army did not want me to return even though I had joined a tour.
No photos, just of the van. Disgusted. Filipinos can return without problem but not other citizens despite the passport.

This place was always on top of my bucket list. The trek was somehow challenging but all the efforts were paid off when you reach there. It’s a must visit place especially for those into nature trip.

we showed up around 0530 at meeting place in Botolan. after checking in and all parties have showed up, we were briefed on the do’s and dont’s. we left a little past 0600 for a 2 hour 4x4 ride. the first 1 hour of the ride was not too bad especially you can see the sunrise in the horizon but the last hour was rough and dusty. after a couple of hours riding, we started a 1 1/2 hour hike. it’s an easy trail with minimum elevation and quite a few hikers that we encounter were just wearing crocs and sandals. when we reached the crater, the view was truly worth it and amazing. lots of people especially its the weekend. after taking pictures, resting and eating our snacks, we started to walk back. the 4x4 return ride was rougher compared to the morning ride due to high heat and extreme dust. this is a once in a lifetime experience so come prepared. bring water, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, mask(due to dusty ride) & food. just make sure that you take your trash with you. Some wannabee hikers that dont care about the environment, leave their trash up there.

The hike was definitely awesome. All the sweat and body aches were worth it upon seeing the amazing view of the beautiful disaster, Mt. Pinatubo. One from my bucket list and must try. Happy group we all enjoyed it.

We booked a private tour through Filipino Travel and Tours.
Pick up at our hotel in Clark at 4:45am, swap vehicles to a 4x4 at 6 am. Start hiking at 7:15 am and reach the crater lake at 8:30am.
Very good local guide. Local vendors sell snacks and drinks at the lake. Overall a well organized trip.

Departure at 6 a.m. for 1 hour of 4x4 driving in the river bed to approach Mt. Then 1h30 walk with a guide, without too much difficulty but not a “health walk” either.
We arrive at the crater around 9am.
Breathtaking moment
A lake of extraordinary color surrounded by magnificent mountains
The panorama area is very welcoming and well maintained
We didn't expect such a beautiful landscape!! The feeling of being alone in the world threatens us.
Lunch then descent around 11:30
We returned to the Alvin and Angie hotel around 2 p.m., who organized this excursion. Count between 2500 and 2900 pesos per person. We were a group of 6.
We recommend +++!

I've been to Mt. Pinatubo back in 2013 and during THAT TIME, the 4x4 jeeps could take you right up the foot of the Volcano followed by a 15 min trek up the peak.
After the pandemic, being closed for more than a year, the trails for the 4x4 have become unpassable and thus you need to walk 6.5kms to the base of the volcano. This will take you a little over 1.5 hours to do (depending on your pace). Trail is full of sand, rocks, and occassional stream crossing (your shoes will get wet but the guide can place rocks to step on). The trail would be easy but getting a secure footing in some parts was tricky. There is also no coverage from the sun. Best to start at 5am.
Views were breath taking especially on the crater.
Some Tips:
1. Do not go during the rainy season. You're welcome.
2. 4x4 ride can last 30 to 45 mins one way. This gets very dusty in the afternoon. Bring a mask.
3. Wear shoes that has good grip and ok to get wet.
4. No water/food along the way, you need to carry this. You can buy at the peak but expect prices to be high (Php100 for 500ml of Gatorade as of June 2022).
5. For the ladies, there are bathrooms in 2 areas, at the base of the volcano and at the peak. Nowhere else during the 6.5km walk. For men, bathroom is everywhere.
6. Bring a hat or cover up. There is no shade during the trek. You can avoid the heat by starting early but coming back there is no escape from the sun.
7. Take pics, walk at your own pace. Enjoy!

Hiking Mt Pinatubo was long ago on my bucket list - so glad it finally happened. After a thrilling Jeep ride to the starting point of the trail, a guide led us on our 1.5-2 hrs each way. The trail wasn't difficult nor ardous to hike. The views on top and lakeside of the crater, as well as the hike itself, are more than rewarding for everything.
Not-so-fun fact the other morning: Our friendly host and owner of Casa Hermogina informed us, that last night the Taal Volcano erupted - the very day 1 year after we hiked there.

My family and I are planning to visit the Mount Pinatubo crater Lake most probably on the second week of March. I had been searching about the entrance fee/environmental fee, guide fee, 4x4 jeep rent and other fees but I cant´t find specific info for my questions. There are some details if the tour is to start from Tarlac, but the thing is we will be coming from Botolan. There are a lot of tour offers but are they really that necessary? Wondering if we can just pay the fees ourselves, rent guides and 4x4 jeeps somewhere in Botolan.

We just went to Mt Pinatubo last week from Tarlac. The guide, driver and 4x4 and fees were all arranged by a rep from the hotel. Before we went all the questions were answered by the hotel we overnight in before the tour. We left at 6am in the morning so it would be necessary to stay overnight before leaving. Sorry I dont have info about Botolan only from Tarlac, I would assumed the same and you can get info from the hotel. There isnt a separate place to pay the fees it is all done as part of the tour. The total package was between 2400 to 2500 depending on the number of people sharing the 4x4. Max of 5. All the fees included. You have to sign a disclaimer, have blood pressure checked if over 40yo and a medical clearance if 60 and above.

Hi there, what time does this trip return to Manila as wondering if it can be done before a night time flight?
كُتب بتاريخ 22 أكتوبر 2019
What trip? Some trips probably return on time, others don’t. I was organizing the whole thing myself and was back in Manila around 7pm.
كُتب بتاريخ 21 ديسمبر 2019
Hi! How to get there from Manila? And how long is the hike? What time would I be back in Manila afterwards?
كُتب بتاريخ 8 فبراير 2019
You can take the Victory Bus in EDSA, Pasay City. About 2 hours and 30 minutes going there. The hike is more or less 4 hours back and forth depending on your hike speed. Maybe, you will be there a day to appreciate the place.

Hi there, we would like to bring our own 4X4 car and driver to Pinatubo. What is the LATEST we can arrive, to go up? We are seeing many 3am departures from Manila but we'd prefer not to do this...
Please let us know!
