Oh my god… how serene this place is… absolutely stunning and beautiful views of the river. Walk around the temple and experience it’s peaceful surroundings. Then go for darshan. In December we got the divine pleasure of watching Theyyam performance in the morning. Be there by 6:30 to watch the attam performance.

One of the cultural places in kannur. A must visit traditional place No restriction for temple entry. All humans, irrespective of religion or caste or custom, are welcomed and treated equally.

One of biggest muthappan temple in kannur district.other attractions near this place is vismaya water park and sanke park .

It is a biggest temple in kannur, 1000 of people visit this temple every day. There is free tea and payyru also, very good destination for pilgrimage..

Temple is located in picturesque surroundings on the banks of Valapattinam river. The climb-down from the bus-stand amidst greenery through steps (about 100) or a winding road (using bikes/ Autorickshaw/car) is a memorable experience. The only temple in Kerala that receives devotees with Tea and traditional snacks. The belief is that Sree Muthappan disapproves devotees coming to worship Him with starving stomachs. Great indeed. Free lunch is available at the temple complex after 12.30 PM. Boat ride across the river is an enchanting option. Vellattam (an ancient ritualistic form of worship in which the priest in an elaborate traditional attire (as in Theyyam) goes into trance and acts like an oracle listening to the grievances of devotees and suggesting remedial measures) takes place in the morning and evening. Overall, an unforgettable spiritual experience. Those who visit once are certain to come again and again.

A peaceful trip as the rush of devotees was less and good lovely darshan. No prasadam provided inside temple, poojas only on timing and restrictions for movement.

It's always a serene sense of satisfaction visiting this temple on the banks of the river and spending sometime in the sannidhi of Shree Muthappan. The fully dressed vellaattam is a divine experience to enjoy.
The drive from Thrissur to Parassinikadavu and back via Mahe is another attraction. A small deviation will take you to Muzhippilangaad drive in beach also.
Calicut is on the way with it's beach and salted fruits and veggies to munch on. The fried mussels at the beach shacks are also a great try

This temple is famous for its Theyyam and attracks many devotees and pilgrims. I recommend to call the temple and ask for the Theyyam timings in advance. Early November there was only a Theyyam in the afternoon and not in the mornings. Attending Theyyam is a very fascinating experience - however I prefered the Theyyam at the smaller and less crowded Muthappan temples in Kannur.
Be aware that photography is not allowed in the temple and during Theyyam.

Sree Parassinikadavu Muthappan is a beautiful temple with beautiful architecture is located on the banks of the river Valapattanam and is dedicated to Lord Muthappan. Visitors offer alcohol to Lord Muthappan. This temple allows entry of people from all caste and religion that makes it unique. Even dogs are allowed to enter this temple, as this temple is the only temple of Kerala with the entrance gate having embellishment of dog’s statues on both the sides.

You can purchase it near shops at temple permises. May not be able to find anywhere else or try in Kannur shopping area.

There are many many lodges of varying rates and categories near the temple. If you want a decent room with clean facilities you can check The Parassini Park which has loads of car park ( Car park is very tight here) also.
