Lovely sandy beach good for children and some snorkling. Has toilet and drink/snack bar. Sun beds with parasol 15E per day

This used to be such a lovely, laid-back beach. On a very recent visit the new monstrosity looks like it's almost ready to open. What happened to 'environmental impact' here? Also very strong smell of fuel from the boat hire drifting over the beach. Such a shame.

Une plage de sable fin. Des transats confortables sous un parasol en rotin, quoi de mieux pour passer une excellente journée.
L’accueil est fait par la propriétaire et sa fille, sans oublier Popi le petit chien.
Un coffre est disponible à chaque emplacement pour sécuriser vos objets personnels.

We have visited this beach numerous times on our previous holidays because we loved how quiet and natural the beach was but they have now started constructing a huge stadium like building that takes up a huge part of the beach and is a complete eye sore. Wasn't needed at all and I expect prices to soar!
At the moment it is €15 for two beds, parasol and the use of a safe which is really good.

Beautiful sandy beach, ideal for snorkelling. €15 for two loungers and a parasol with safe. Highly recommend this beach.

Having reviewed previously, the beach was nice, but the structure on the beach is awful. The sea was dirty and black oil in the sea, the beach was filthy and the parasol beds also blocking the views.
For me one of the prettiest beaches some years ago, but now the last place I would visit.
Certainly avoid the water with kids as oil on skin is a carceogen. The Greek authority should really be ashamed of this place.

the new owners have ruined this beach with a very large structure. It is an illegal build. They have ignored orders to take it down.

Glystra beach was a lovely haven 15 or so years ago. It was remote, picturesque but also had a very friendly snack bar. This year we visited again. The beach is still lovely - wide, sweeping bay, lovely soft sand in most parts (although it can be a bit stony just at the water's edge in places) but that wasn't a problem. The water is shallow for ever such a long way out so it feels very safe. There are rocky headlands at each end of the bay for snorkelling for fish. What more can you ask? Sadly the old snack bar has been pulled down and dumped at one side. A brand new snack bar has been built at the sea front. Yes, you can sit and eat and drink under shelter from the sun, but it has somehow lost it's character. The beer was good and the food wasn't bad! It was very welcome. The beach now has toilets and showers and changing rooms but the unfortunate habit the Greeks have of dumping large amounts of un-needed stuff in the vicinity has spoilt the overall picture. However, I would go again for the swim and the beer etc. Wish the Greeks would tidy up the other bits!

Hi , It is about 15 min drive up the coast just past Lardos beach , there is a bus stop but I have not used it as I always hire a car . I use Rodos cars as they do not have a high excess , just 30 euro admin if car is damaged , cheers
