Une ballade sur les remparts puis dans la cité fortifiée qui a émerveillé les enfants.

De passage à la Baule, il faut aller à Guerande dans la cité médiévale avec ses petites ruelles, en Février il n'y a pas grand monde et beaucoup de boutiques sont fermées, et quand il y a du vent, on le sent bien. On reviendra aux beaux jours.

What an absolutely wonderful experience we had at the Cite Medievale de Guerande - we were staying at the beachside in La Baule - and discovered mention of this on Tripadvisor. Just a 15 minute drive to this fabulous walled medieval city. Beautifully maintained and suitable for families - our 3 year old grandson had a marvellous time on the rampart tour and spent an hour with me enjoying the activities they had available for little ones.
Fabulous artisan shops and eateries; you could easily spend more than half a day here just strolling though the city and enjoying the surroundings.
Loved the artisan shops and there is an abundance of shops selling local produce; salt from the marshes; hand made chocolates; local arts and crafts, pastry etc as well as little eateries . . .
Just the most fabulous experience . . . so glad we discovered it.

Beindruckende Altstadt. Guérande ist eine zur historischen Bretagne gehörige französische Gemeinde im Département Loire-Atlantique in der Region Pays de la Loire. Mit ihren soliden Befestigungsmauern könnte man Guérande auf den ersten Blick als eine Art Carcassonne des Westens bezeichnen. Schöne, kleine Läden mit erstklassiger Ware.

Toujours agréable de se balader entre les remparts de la citè guérandaise et de déambuler dans les rues pavées. Seul bémol , la variété et le non renouvellement des magasins intra -mûros .

Cité très agréable; promenade sur les remparts vaut la peine. Quelques commerces d'artisanat intéressants. Beaucoup de restos mais principalement des crêperies.

During our visit of Brittany we also have visited the “Medieval city of Guérande”.
The fortified enclosure of Guérande is one of the best preserved in France and the most complete in Brittany. Based on older remains, the city wall dates mainly from the 15th century. Six towers and four gates punctuate its 1,300 m of curtain walls. It is a remarkable testimony to the rapid adaptation of military architecture to the appearance of artillery. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1877.

The Chapel of Notre-Dame-Blanche
The Manor of the Prévoté.
