Dear yulchik_1983 Thank you for your review and feedback on your recent visit to the Penguin Parade and I'm sorry it was a negative experience. The penguins that call Phillip Island home are entirely a wild colony, so numbers are indeed unpredictable throughout the year. In the last 12 months, the numbers have peaked at over 3,300 penguins crossing in one night to our lowest recorded number of 254 penguins in one night, so it is disappointing if you only saw 5. Penguins do come out of the water right along the beach, but if you are unable to see them cross the beach from the viewing stands, you do have the opportunity to see many more up close from the boardwalks which run alongside the many penguin pathways. These are not migratory penguins, so this is their permanent home, however they can spend several days (and even weeks) out at sea at any given time. The Penguin Parade is part of the Phillip Island Nature Parks, a self-funded not for profit organisation which delivers environmental, research, education and social outcomes for the region and your visit helped us with these activities, so we do thank you for your contribution and once again, I'm sorry that you did not have an enjoyable visit.
