We joined Mandy and Jed for a photography day at the Swinton Estate (although you can experience the birds without photography). It was amazing, staff were excellent and very patient with us, with Jed giving us tips to get the best shots. The birds were very well behaved dispite some challenging weather! The way they structured the day to see the different birds in various locations around the estate was well planned. Lunch at the Bivouac was also very good and filling.
Would highly recommend and we will definately be returning

You won’t find a more close-up, engaging and hands on (literally you’ll have the birds of prey flying to and perched on your hands) avian experience. Fun, educational, interactive and very well thought through and organised. The falconer was friendly, reassuring and full of engaging facts and information. Went with my two sons. We totally loved it and have some amazing pictures. You start with the super cute small owls, then larger owls and hawks up to the absolutely huge (but defyingly light) eagle owl. The walk though one of the parks flying a hawk was fantastic. You’ll leave completely satisfied with a fondness for the birds and much respect for the Eagle Owl. Many thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

A fascinating and very enjoyable morning on a beautiful autumn day in lovely surroundings. Mandy, the handler and owner, was friendly and calm and I changed from being a bit sceptical about birds in captivity to feeling that she, and her daughter, who originally set up the centre, are doing their utmost to ensure the birds have a good life. Certainly whilst we were were there they all got well fed and almost all had an opportunity to fly.
The birds were beautiful. Mandy is very knowledgeable about them all and we had a fabulous morning. Well worth doing.

We visited Swindon Estates Birds of Prey centre today. It was a surprise birthday present for my husband and he was not disappointed. It was an amazing day. We were met by Mandy, who really made the day with her friendliness and knowledge. She spent a little time telling us about the estate, her daughter Sophie (who founded the centre) and how Mandy became involved working with these beautiful birds. My husband then put the glove on and Mandy began getting the birds out and flying to him. We started with the smaller owls, moving to the large European Eagle Owl. After lunch we did a hawk walk around the wood, with cheeky H who insisted on flying between us, finding his favourite perch before flying to the glove. The afternoon came to an end, again flying some of the bigger owls. It was a really special day and Mandy is really passionate about the birds. Excellent experience, thank you.

A wonderful experience, not least because of the friendliness and immense knowledge of Mandy the falconer. Starting with the smaller birds, she gradually takes you through the whole aviary, finishing with Ellie, the immense Eagle Owl. The birds swoop down to eat from your (gloved!) hand, giving the chance to see them at close quarters. Combine all this with an excellent lunch, and it was a day to remember. Thoroughly recommended.

Absolutely awesome experiences, doing the Hawk Walk with H the Harris Hawk, and then the owl experience, flying 5 different species of owl. Finding out the history of the centre in itself was interesting; a real family affair. Really interesting to hear about each of the owls and so amazing to get so close to such beautiful birds. Can't wait to do it again when we stay next!

Photography workshop
My two favourite things, getting up close to stunning Birds of Prey and being able to photograph them in a natural setting. It was a fabulous day thanks to Mandy and Jed. Not forgetting the beautiful birds. Would highly recommend it.

Excellent photography day. Wide range of birds used throughout the day placing the birds in natural settings designed to showcase the birds to the best advantage and therefore providing the best photographic outcome. Would highly recommend.

Amazing! Mandy was just wonderful, she clearly loves what she does and has with the birds and that comes across in bucket fulls as she flys the birds with you. We flew many of the owls and each had their own personality and made us ‘ooh’ and ‘wow’ in different ways. We also took H for a walk through the woodland. To watch a hawk swoop from tree to tree in its natural habitat was wonderful.

Fantastic experience flying lots of beautiful owls! What a great centre to have at a hotel. All the birds very well kept and great opportunities for photography during our experience. Would definitely recommend!
