We had an amazing time at De Karanganjang coffee plantation. This place is a wonderful mix of history, nature, coffee (of course !) and kindness..
We have learnt a lot about coffee, from the culture & production processes to the tasting and enjoying moment. Do not hesitate to go and have a look at this huge and beautiful area in the middle of Blitar's countryside.

Cafe serves a great selection of hot and iced drinks in a historic environment with friendly and attentive staff. Walking through the plantation grounds you have the chance to view the old plantation buildings and the ripening coffee berries. Highly recommended!!!

I volunteered and stayed in De Karanganjar for 2 weeks. It is not only an opportunity for coffee enthusiasts to know more about coffee but also a place to retreat and be away from the chaotic life.
I was very welcomed and looked after very well on my arrival date. cause I am a solo foreign traveler. The staff kept checking my safety on my way to Blitar, The journey was adventurous but I got here safely eventually. I feel home and safe in this place.
There is a coffee processing factory, a gallery, and a cafe. and it’s all surrounded by beautiful nature. Lots of coffee trees growing wildly. Most of them are robusta. There are plenty of interesting and artistic paintings in the gallery. Don’t miss it. The buildings are the 19th-century European colonial style. the og cafe is very well designed. The color of doors and windows, the antique furniture. Everything is well-harmonized with the surrounding nature. This place is aesthetic, relaxing, and calm. I like walking around the jungles and Sitting on different chairs to read my book and write my journal. The staff are very friendly and always smiling. They never get tired of teaching me English.
As a coffee enthusiast. I learned more about coffee from seed to cup. I saw real coffee trees for the first time in my life and witnessed the processing and roasting of coffee. I did coffee cupping and get the chance to brew my own V60 as well.
The current owner of this place is the third generation. He is very knowledgeable and has ever been to many places around the world. An easygoing and down-to-earth young man. He invited me for dinner with their family. My Asian stomach was so comforted.
It is good place to meet different people and get to know the culture of this country.
Overall, I enjoyed the 14 days stay

Josht👍👍

This is a working coffee plantation, it produces coffee. You can see the entire proces from the coffee plant to the roasted coffee bean. You can also taste their coffee in the cafe. They have all their coffee there to taste and you can chose how the coffee is made for you, from Indonesia way as kopi tubruk, as filtered, or French press.
There is also a restaurant where you can eat a bit. The factory can be visited as well to see the roasting and milling. In the factory there is all the coffee they produce for you to smell and of course you can buy the coffee here, in powder, or as whole beans. Coffee in the form of powder can also be bought in the cafe. There is a small packet and a bigger one. I bought small packages of all to taste at home and bought a kilo of whole beans from the most nicest smelling coffee.
There is also a museum with a lot of stuff from the past and many of that stuff is Dutch. Also the sign board on the entrance gate is still in Dutch and from the past. Some buildings at the plantation are also still from the Dutch area and build by the Dutch. Street names inside the plantation and some signs boards in building have still Dutch names or writings. And the name itself Keboen Kopi Karanganjar, is still the old Dutch writing. In modern Indonesia, keboen (garden) is nowadays written as kebun. For me that was interesting to see as I am Dutch but also partly Indonesian.
Besides the museum there is also a small souvenir shop and there is coffee education, where they explain al about coffee. We have also met the current owner, who is now the third generation. That was very interesting and he took the time to speak with us. All the employees here where very friendly and helpful.
We stayed here about 4 hours. We came already in the afternoon and so towards the evening there was an enormous sound of all sorts of animals and insects living in the trees in and around the plantation. That was also a nice experience. I can strongly recommend this interesting place. It is interesting about coffee, it is nature, and it is calm and relaxing.

Iya betul.

Hi. there is no specific education trip here. but you can see coffee beans processing and brewery here. they also has European waitress if you want to communicate with English speaking staff. however since this coffee plantation used to be Dutch Indies company, several terms are in Dutch language.
