Piantagione di the che vale una visita. Interessante anche seguire il percorso di trattamento delle foglie. Non ossessivo lo shop finale, dove non mancano chicche di pregio come il White Tea.

One of the best places to be visited, If you are interest on tea you can sea the process of tea making at this place. Also you can buy fresh tea in to a very reasonable prices

We received a very informative tour of the grounds and factory, which still has some of the original machines! At the start we were given some delicious tea and cake, and then had the opportunity to try all the teas available at the end. Would highly recommend as a day trip from Galle or nearby.

We had a lovely experience at the tea estate! Our guided tour was quick but informative and included a slice of cake & tons of tea. They also grow peppercorns and cinnamon, both of which you can get in their shop. The estate is beautifully lush and makes for a nice afternoon activity.

I am a Lankan. I went to this place today. With a foreigner. One person has to pay 2$ to see this. The price of tea here is very high. The driver and guides who come with foreigners also have to pay 2$ to see this. The guides here even take a photo as the tourists like. Not given the chance.

Handunugoda Tea Estate is a great afternoon activity for anyone who slightly likes tea (by the end of the tour, you'll LOVE tea). The grounds are beautiful, with a variety of different tea plants for demonstrations. Inside the processing facility, you can watch as the teas are dried, sorted and prepared for distribution using both modern machines (able to measure the size of the leaves) and antique mechanics. It's all exceptionally interesting and positive as this is the source of livelihood for a great number of locals. In the shop, one can smell and taste various types of teas and actually purchase some of the Herman teas to take home...which I did and they're amazing. Can't wait to order more!!

We had a lovely stroll in the tea plantation with a very knowledgeable guide. At the end of the walk you are treated for a cup of tea and a slice of cake at the owners house. From here you continue to the tea factory where the whole process is explained. It’s amazing! They work with 145 years old machines!!! At the end of the tour you can taste at least 20 different kind of teas and buy your souvenirs.
The tour used to be free, but due to the difficult economical situation they have introduced a nominal entrance fee of 2 USD.

Besuchten während eines SriLanka- Urlaubs diese Tee-Plantage und es war ein toller und hochinteressanter Trip. Wurden durch die gesamte Plantage geführt, wo neben Tee auch Kaffee, Kakao, Vanille und 1000 andere Pflanzen wachsen. Es wurde alles erklärt und alle Fragen beantwortet. Toll! Dann ging es in die Tee-Manufaktur, wo noch mit traditionellen Maschinen gearbeitet wird. Zum Schluss gab es noch eine Teeverkostung mit allen Teesorten und man konnte, wenn man wollte, Tees nach eigener Wahl zu vernünftigen Preisen kaufen. Alles in allem ein toller lehrreicher Ausflug in die Welt des Tees.

We’ve assays wanted to visit a tea plantation and this estate was perfect en route to Galle. The guide was knowledgeable and a proper character. We loved learning about the tea process and the cuppa on the veranda ( with chocolate cake )
The old factory was fascinating as were the old pieces of machinery still in use. We tasted and purchased tea in the shop at the end , mainly to support the estate but also as a memento of a great couple of hours.

Your comments are very carefully noted and in the first instance let me tender our unreserved apologies to you for the inadequate service.
Let me try to explain. We start our tours at 8.30 in the morning and there is an unending stream of visitors who at most times are given an individual guide, speaking German, French Russian and a few other languages.
We are very reluctantly compelled to have the last tea and cake service at the Proprietors bungalow at 4.30 pm. The tour of the factory and the plantation can go on till 5.00 PM. We have visitors arriving after 6 O' clock sometimes.
If you can tell us the time you arrived and the date we can take corrective action.
However I renew my apologies to you.

Like I said you should be flexible when you know that visitors are coming. The traffic conditions are tough now and your staff should not keep calling and saying that they have to go off so please make it before 4:30. That was so dissapointing, at least with a greeting on arrival and a small explanation that its too late for a tour of the estate would be nice, then they could at least show the guest a brief tour of the productuon area and bungalore will be a memorable one isnt it. Its all about being service oriented and caring that makes you top of your game. We as guides see the good and the bad of services around Sri Lanka, and just hope that Sri Lanka brings back that always smiling people service back that we are seeming to loose slowly and surely.
No worries will try once again to visit your estate with other clients again. Thanks for your feed back and Good luck for the future. My regards, Tony.

Hi! We just turned up and they were ready to lead us around even if we were only two.
Eventually some more ppl came on te beginning of our tour, but as I wrote, just to turn up should be fine ;-)

Yes, you can be in any day of the year I really talk with the manager and he said that their open in Christmas day. free of charge you can visit any day.

Is this Tea Estate entrance free? Are there buses that run from Bandaranayke Mawatha and is the bus stop close to this attraction? - Thanks Lisa

It's not charging for entrance, there selling some of there products specially tea, we can try before buy it. also you ask for the bus, no not possible to go there by bus, Taxi, Tuk tuk or motor bike is the best way.

Je ne connais pas les horaires exactes à mon avis c est ouvert toute la journée mais quand vous arrivez sur place vous partez directement (éventuellement avec d autres personnes)avec un guide pour la visite qui dure env 1 h. Je vous conseille de faire la visite le matin. Possibilité aussi de faire une balade à cheval sur place.

We want to visit your estate end March this year. We will come by train from Colombo, which will arrive in Galle by about 10 am. From Galle, we will come by car to your estate. Can we visit the estate at any time or are there specific times? Do we have to make a prior booking to visit? Thanks

If you dear travel by train for only this attraction. you can get off the train in Ahangama. Then you can easily can take taxi to another 6 KM. 9.00 am to 4.30 p.m. it's open any day of the year. I give you the manager's Telephone number that you can contact him by Telephone. +94 777713999.
