A routine lake.
Overcrowded.
Boating is very expensive.
Still if you are going, better to have a paddle boat.
Traditional photography and ice cream softies are a must

The boating on the lake is run by a private company, who are greedy and rude. They are not bothered about anyone's safety. The lake has rocky areas, where boats get regularly stuck. While we were boating, about 5 boats got stuck. There is no warning for tourists of this. This area is dangerous and should be clearly marked as such. The owner was not even bothered listening to us. All he was interested was selling more expensive tickets. There is an extra charge for life jackets, which is a scam. They have no way of helping any boats, when they get stuck. Boats are in a very bad condition. Only do this activity, if you do not care for your life and well-being.

I saw the lake at night– i saw it in the dusk–i saw it in the rising sun– i wished –i could freeze those moments for lifetime–i did- in my memories– to cherish them forever–
We drove from Jodhpur– still basking in the memories of the Meherengarh fort– the road is too good– the last 20 km -from Abu Road is gentle–mountainous and hilly–to Mount Abu.
The Lake at night
The lake is located at the centre of the city– or the city has grown around the lake.
The first night I was drawn – by the overcrowded commercial activity –as you enter the lake premises– activities like boating, trinket sellers, streetfood-jostle against each other to find place as do bawdy tourists–
We tried the nighttime boating – booked a personal boat– costs around 500/ per person– for rowing you half the lake– tip the boatman 200/ more – he will take you around the whole lake– and it is worth it.
The sight is surreal– as the dusk settles down– and the Aravalli hills outlined against the background–of a dusk sky– the lake shimmers reflecting the periphery lights, gentle cold breeze, silence interrupted by the sound of oars–takes you to a different world . with the lighted tadpole rock against the skyline- the sound of the temple bells an evening aarti- resonating in the background– it is total peace.
The Lake at dawn
I am an early morning riser by default–walked down to the lakefront at 0530 AM– not a single soul in sight– absolute silence– i started my morning walk– kudos to the administration– they have built a wonderful walking track- circumnavigating the lake–
as i walked down the track– with the Aravallis on one side– the lake on the other– the sky began to lighten– the lake began to change color–as if the water was immersed in a alchemy of gold- even the fishes surfaced to watch– giving chances to birds of prey. The path is dotted by temples– a staircase which takes you to the tadpole rock–passing a cave– where Swami Vivekananda had meditated-.
I was halfway through my walk– the sun touched the horizon– there were strategically placed benches– to appreciate the sight– i sat down mesmerised– it was a little chilly – from the far end of the lake– the sight was heavenly–– a thing i had never done before– breaking the rhythm of my walk.
One side was the Aravallis-outlined by the morning sun, the lake coming to life in the middle , and the tadpole rock – towering over at the far distance, punctuated by the whoops of the monkey, the sweet smell of the champa – you transcend into a haven of peace and tranquillity- i rose after the sun rose fully– and took the walk around– with the swans and the monkeys and the temple bells accompanying me..
The lake at Dusk
I was back at dusk– as i was mesmerised by its beauty– here as the evening settled in and the sun disappeared around the horizon– the scene was memorable– as the street lights came on with an orange hue– and the temple bells begin to ring– the lake changed its color– reflecting the sky– and finally the darkness fell as the lake started shimmering the street lights.
The lake– seeing it in its different hue in different times of the day is a sight to die for– a vision which would be etched throughout your life– with the promise that i would be back again–

Excluding Dilwara Temples, Nakki Lake is Mount Abu's premium attraction and to us an absolute disappointment. Whatever natural beauty was there, all have been corrupted in the name of tourism development. What is now there is a loud, gaudy and congested experience. If you are searching for natural beauty then avoid this place. Otherwise if you are looking for average and pricy food and some pointless shopping then Nakki Lake will not disappoint. For us the only saving grace was the nearby Toad Rock.

All is okay . Like any other hill station .
An accident is waiting to happen . On your ascend to the Mount, one can notice that at many places the original concrete railings have been replaced with iron scaffoldings . These temporary structures have also crumbled due to the rash driving . Seems a disaster is waiting to happen on your climb or descend on the mount . With so many busses & dumpers plying the sloppy mountain a major repair is imminent.
On inquiring with the locals I was informed neither the municipality, tourism department or the state government or elected representatives are interested or bothered .
Would request you to highlight this danger waiting to happen

Nakki lake is located in the center of Mount Abu. It is the main tourist attraction of Mount Abu. We visited the lake in the evening and found the place crowded and vibrant. However, we could not enjoy much due to continuous rain. The lake is reasonably big, boating facility is available. Walkways are available around the lake, which provide opportunity for a leisurely stroll. The lake are also provides beautiful views of surrounding hills, forests, gardens etc. The place also offers several options for food, drinks and shopping in and around the lake. In summary, it is a lively and touristy place, must visit in Mount Abu.

Nakki lake is located in the centre of Mount Abu and is the main attraction of the place. The lake is vast and deep. There is provision of boating in the lake. There is a walkway circumventing around the lake which can be taken to just stroll around the lake and look at the beautiful hills and forests adorning the lake all around. The surrounding area has been developed with multiple gardens to increase the beauty of the lake. Its a place you can go time and again and never get bored. Not to forget the variety of food, drinks and shopping options that are spread around the lake, starting from the smallest hawkers to the biggest fine diner.
A must visit and must visit multiple times for all.

Hi Dear TripAdvisor Member,
I am planning to visit Mount Abu & I have few queries regarding the same. Would really appreciate if someone can answer my queries-
1. What is usually the temperature in 2nd week of June?
2. Does it rain around that time?
3. Which is the best hotel to stay in Mount Abu?
4. Are hotels very close by Nakki Lake best place to stay in Mount Abu?
كُتب بتاريخ 29 أبريل 2016
For Weather of Mount Abu
Just check Mount abu weather on accuweather site for month of June
Don't plan for Rajasthan for Month of June, Best time to visit is September to December and Feb to March
All Hotel which are close to Bus stand area, are close to Nakki Lake.
Its a very small Town, all hotels are very close to Nakki lake if you are staying in Mount Abu
Just check distance of your chosen hotel from Nakki lake by Using Google Maps
Don't Plan for more than 1N/2D
Nothing to do in Mount abu except one lake and 2 temples.
Be careful if you are going with Girls/ladies
Come back to your hotel by 9-9.30 PM
