Really enjoyed the walk around the grassed trail around the wetlands. Had numerous butterflies flying around us and letting us get really close. Just beautiful scenery. Spent about 45 mins here.

Three large ponds that offer sanctuary to many bird species as they "wing" their way either north or south. As one walks or runs around the tops of the berms, there is always activity in the ponds. Come check it out. You just might find that illusive bird species.

Plovers, Killdeer, Heron, Wood Ducks, Geese, Muskrats,
Snapping Turtle and all sorts of other shore birds bordered by a 1 1/2 mowed walk fringed with an array of wildflowers.
"Aaah but," said my nature boy friend; "You won't see much this time of the year."
I repeated my observation to him which he replied
with a surprise. "Really?!?"
Yes, a really good walk through a re-conditioned sewage lagoon area with lots to look at ...

Nancy and I love a walk.
I love a walk with something to look at rather
than just a meaningless trot.
The real issue with walks are to get a good new one.
New walks can mean a longer drive involved.
West Perth Wetlands is a lovely walk around
two restored wetland lagoons to their natural state
and relatively close not to forget ...
Unique.
Wetlands in the County of Perth were vast at one time
and now represent about 0.03% of our land mass.
Perth Wetlands is located 'behind the soccer fields'
off Frank Street in Mitchell.
The Municipality of Perth West and a local committee have restored these decommissioned sewage lagoons to a natural state along with planting 4,700 trees.
We loved our walk seeing lots of fauna action as we passed a floral background; simply lovely it was.
Later my super buddy the super naturalist scoffed;
"You wouldn't see anything this time of the year!"
We saw lots of muskrat action, a Great Blue Heron fishing, scurrying Plovers, Killdeer, Sand Pipers along with a plethora of other shorebirds, plus Wood ducks ... geese and one mammoth
snapping turtle.
The baby muskrat were super cute.
