Thanks to David for the trip last week. We had a great time spotting eagles and dolphins - towards the end of the trip my 4 year old told me she’d “seen enough dolphins now” which I think is the best complaint you can get. Brilliant day and good value for money.

Wildlife boat tour. Fascinating to see the nest of golden eagles and prancing dolphins surfacing all around us. All that and generous numbers of seals, gulls and cormorants.
Oh and add in a ruined castle and stunningly beautiful sandy beaches on deserted islands. Local man David Steele who runs and skippers this small company knew exactly where to take us and how best to approach each spot to increase the chances of wildlife appearing and staying around.
The comfortable powerful boat has space for about 12 people and is a world away from less than exciting excursion boats in seaside towns, with commentary from a tape or a bored crew member who has said the same inauthentic phrases tens of thousand times before.
We were in good company and very safe hands on this tour between Eriskay, Barra, and South Uist. We saw and learned much in the space of just two hours. Our appetite is definitely whetted for a longer excursion next time.

I went on the St Kilda boat trip with Uist Sea Tours on the 8th June and it is still my every waking thought over a week later! An utterly MINDBLOWING day from start to finish!
If like me you want to stay out on the deck, I'd advise a hat that won't blow off, gloves, waterproof trousers for windsheeting & a good layer. Take cash if you want to buy souvenirs in the small shop which is run by way of an honesty box.
Skipper Dave & Skipper's mate Colin were very attentive from start to finish knowing I was prone to sea sickness & advised the best part of the boat.
They sought every opportunity on the journey out & back to point out sealife. We spotted basking sharks, 5 dolphins, puffins were everywhere on the sea and in the air, gannets, a skua, fulmars, razorbills, Shearwaters, guillemots, seals and so the list goes on!! A National Trust ranger met us from the landing dinghy & gave advisories re where to walk in the 4 hours we had. The museum gives some information but I thoroughly recommend reading a book on St Kikda prior to going to the archipelago as it brings it all to life. For a good walker, it would be achievable to walk to Oiseval AND the Lovers Stone in the 4 hours and still grab a swim from the beach !!!
Dave put much emphasis on safety but achieved all this through humour & good spiritedness. This is not just a job but a strong vocation . Dave plainly enjoys what he does & delivers well, coming to chat with passengers and point things out . I thoroughly recommend this once in a lifetime trip. I didn't get my first nor my second date but the trip was still offered later that week. ie Dave will do his utmost to get you out there. This will be up there with my best memories!!!

We done the Mingulay Trip and the St Kilda trip. Our skippers were David and Colin. They were fantastic, confident and reassuring. They were friendly and genuine guys. It’s clear David takes pride in his business and comfort of those on board. Whilst the destinations sell themselves David uses his knowledge of the area to add those special touches pointing out sea birds, local mountains and facts. He also has a good relationship with other skippers and boat tour companies which we seen how well he interacted with them on the day. More specifically, we believed st Kilda to be a once in a life time achievement and it did not disappoint. Mingulay was a stand out, the arches exceeded our expectations. Had it not been for the skill and confidence of David we might never have seen these. We will definetly keep on touch with David, and be happy to book on more trips. Would highly recommend these trips.

We had an amazing trip! We would highly recommend.
The boat journey was comfortable and we felt we were in good hands. Starting from Eriskay and travelling down the east coasts to Mingulay.
Mingulay did not disappoint. We had plenty of time to explore the island and to find the Puffins.
The return journey was spectacular, around the west coast of Mingulay.

I enjoyed seeing dolphins close-up and gannets diving. The boat was skilfully handled and the skipper was knowledgeable. Two hours at sea was just the right length.
It would be worth making clear that the tour is in a boat with cabin, not a rib.

What a magical experience. We sailed to Mengulay to see the puffins and experienced a lot more. Our experienced and knowledgeable skipper took us round the West of the island, warning us before hand that it may be ‘a bit bumpy’. He skilfully negotiated what looked like walls of water coming at us! We all enjoyed a thrilling white knuckle ride. We saw the towering cliffs before reaching the calm East side of the island. I love a bit of drama and I felt very safe at the same time. We climbed onto the rocks and up over the cliffs to see the puffins as they flew back and forth from their burrows. It was fabulous. Bring binoculars or a long lens for your camera to ensure a good look. The weather was unexpectedly lovely and we enjoyed exploring the ruins of the old village. Some of the group went over the island to get a look over the second highest cliffs in the UK. We went to the gorgeous beach and went in for a swim. The large population of grey seals came to have a nosey at this pasty white Scottish woman swimming in their water. It was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced! On the way back I spotted several whales (loudly to the rest of the group) only to be gently informed by Davy the skipper that those were in fact rocks, commonly classed as whales by tourists like me! I learned a lot about the way of life on the islands from the chat on the boat. If you get the chance, do this tour!

Superb trip to Mingulay. David and Sean Neil were very engaging and knowledgeable. They gave us info on the island and what to expect once they ensured we got ashore safely. On the way back they took us around the western side of the island so we got to see the spectacular cliffs AND they took us under the arch which was a special treat for us. Given the sea conditions, it was touch and go whether we'd make it through the arch, but David didn't disappoint with his expert nautical skills! We got to see dolphins, seals, lots of different species of sea birds and to top it off, on the way back we saw a Minke Whale! This trip is a must for any visitor to the islands.

I originally had booked the trip to Mingulay, which understandably is always weather /sea dependent. I was a two week trip around the Outer Hebrides relying on public transport, so was very fortunate the skipper kindly picked me up my accommodation from Lochboisdale, South Uist to make the journey to Eriskay. What a beautiful part of the world this is, fantastic journey to Eriskay. Unfortunately the sailing conditions were too choppy to get to Mingulay (the right decision by a very experienced skipper) but I opted to stay on the boat and sail around the coast. I will gladly try again. Even though didn't get to Mingulay, still a memorable experience, I hope to return one summer and try again

Great experience, lovely scenery and amazing dolphins! David was very helpful and accomodating, and let the dolphins come to the boat without chasing them. Could not have wished for anything more. As a bonus, we also had sunny weather and the sea was like a mirror.

Are you running any tours this summer? I sent an enquiry and phoned, but there's no response. The online calendar says that trips are scheduled.
I'll be in Uist 19th-22nd of August and would love to go one of your trips if possible.
