‪Yes Absolutely. Performing Gaya Shrad is considered to free the soul of not only the deceased but all seven generations on both sides (maternal and paternal) of the deceased. Please note that you should take the names and gothras of as many generations that you and your family can think of prior to going to Gaya. You will need to name all of them including their gothras during the pooja process at each of the 3 holy spots at Gaya where Pind Daan is performed.
However it does not mean that after Gaya Shard one should forget their ancestors. I believe that even though it is said seven generations on both sides get mukti/moksha by you performing the Pind Daan, each and every member of the family should also do their best in remembering and performing Gaya Shrad at least once in order to thank ancestors for their continued blessings. This is just my personal belief. At the minimum each and every family member should do all the right things that would make their ancestors proud of the lineage they have left behind whether it is helping the poor or making donations to the needy in memory of their ancestors.
When we went to Gaya, both my brother and I performed Pind Daan and my sister participated in all the rituals. We were told that since she is married and had brothers performing the Pind Daan she could not perform the Pind Daan but could equally and fully participate in the Pind Daan ceremonies being performed by both her brothers. We were okay with that as long as she was with us and an integral part of the ceremony on remembering our beloved mother and our ancestors.

Performing Gaya Shard even just once is considered to free the souls of the deceased and all seven generations on both sides (maternal and paternal) of the deceased. After performing Gaya Shrad one does not need to perform Shrad at home each year as the souls have attained mukti or moksha and no longer visit their relatives during Pitr Paksh or any other time of the year.
However it does not mean that after Gaya Shard one should forget their ancestors. The sons or male relatives or female relatives in the absence of male relatives should offer tilanjali to their ancestors during the Pitr Paksh period. Feeding cows, dogs and other animals, making donations in the memory of your ancestors, feeding the poor and needy during Pitr Paksh are all examples of how you can make your ancestors proud.
I believe that even though it is said seven generations on both sides get mukti/moksha by you performing the Pind Daan, each and every member of the family should also do their best in remembering and performing Gaya Shrad at least once in order to thank ancestors for their continued blessings. This is just my personal belief. Dear readers the purpose of the information shared in the Questions and Answers format above is to share our experiences and thoughts with others who may be planning a trip to Gaya and are trying to decipher the myriad of conflicting and often confusing information that one gets exposed to. The purpose of the information shared with you is NOT to challenge any ones beliefs or to start a meaningless debate on the differences between what you believe in and what is presented here. When it comes to matters like such each of us should simply do what we believe is best. I sincerely hope that the above information is helpful, will be used in the proper light and spirit it is intended, and will help you come closer to making a trip to Gaya and paying your respects to your ancestors. God Bless!‬

‪Tibetan Monastery is the oldest and largest monastery of Bodh Gaya. It is located near the famous Mahabodhi temple. It has a huge collection of Tibetan scriptures, tangkhas and other religious objects. It consists of an image of Maitreya Buddha, which is believed to be the future incarnation of the Buddha. It also offers books and literature on various aspects of Buddhism and guidance for the followers. The Tibetan monastery is also a meditation centre and conducts courses based on meditation and the principles of Buddhism.one can experience peaceful environment here.‬
