We booked a two hour session for five of us and it was fantastic.
We all were able to produce something using the potters wheels that can be fired and hopefully a treasured memory. I say we produced.......well.
That is with the expert tuition and guidance from Mary and her able helper Martha who were always there to help and guide us.
A perfect session for us and a really good introduction into this art by a natural teacher.
I cannot recommend this more highly and we did it as a family for a special birthday treat. I'm sure this would be great for any kind of treat.
Thankyou very much Crazy about Clay. Can't wait to see if our finished products if they survive the firing process !!

Mary is a natural and engaging teacher. She enthrals children and captivates their parents. She is an asset to the Cider Press Centre.

Mary is clearly very skilled and managed to give the girls each experience of throwing a pot. She supported and guided them to achieve a competent, confidence building outcome and also gave them time to make their own ideas.
A great experience for all and clearly appealing to older people as well. A really lovely atmosphere, lovely supportive way to nurture creativity.
It does end up expensive but a great experience.

Nothing better than four friends throwing some clay for the first time. Our teacher Mary made the experience so much fun and valuable and we were able to make some great looking pots. Can't wait to see the finished results in a few weeks time. We would recommended Crazy about Clay to adults and children alike and share the passion that Mary has for this amazing art form ... thank you again

I went to crazy about clay after a friend recommended it, Mary the teacher was very informative and gave us much needed support and advice. We actually managed to throw two bowls on the wheel and after more help chose the glaze and glass to colour the base. I cannot believe what we managed to create. A very " crafty " friend asked did you do that using the rope method and was astounded that we had thrown the bowls ourselves. None if this would have been possible without Mary's support, she was so patient. The cost is the price of the clay used plus the firing, We were there for about an hour and a half and it cost £18 an absolute bargain. Bowls were ready in 4 weeks

My two young daughters have been visiting Mary for almost 5 years. A morning with Mary has become a regular highlight of our family holiday. Mary is patient, skilled and a great communicator (tip for parents - leave the kid(s) and go and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Cranks or a walk up to Dartington Hall). Mary teaches "proper" pottery not painting pre-made articles - so be patient if you are seeking a child-made gift for a grandparent. Mary was a major factor in helping my eldest daughter with her proudest achievement to date.

Looking for something to do on a wet morning in Devon we found Mary and her Crazy about Clay studio in the Dartington complex and what a find it was. All four of us made something pretty and useful. Adults used the wheel, two of us for the first time ever. May is a brilliant teacher, very patient and with good tips of how to make things work. She was especially kind to my 2 yr old granddaughter. Together they made a turtle in clay, Abi decorated it and now we are all waiting for our pots to arrive in the post, fresh from the kiln . The total cost for the session for four including all materials, painting, firing and posting to Cheshire was £51. Excellent value.

If you like getting your hands dirty and letting you imagination run away with you this is the place to go. You can make whatever you like, use as much clay as you like, have a go on the wheel and if you need help Mary's happy to assist you.
