Kala Bhavan is the Fine Arts department of the Viswa Bharati University established by Ravindranath Tagore. It celebrated 100 years of its existence in 2019. It has now two main sections- the Kala Bhavan and the SANGEET Bhavan.
Asit Kumar Haldar took over as its first head. The four giants associated with the Kala Bhavan were Ravindranath Tagore, Nand Lal Bose, Ramkinkar Baij and Benode Bihari MUKHERJEE.
Thousands of art pieces are on display at the Kala Bhavan and include works of the giants.
It’s an open air museum where most pieces are on display. University departments, student hostels as well as the art pieces of the de facto museum co exist.
We saw the now famous works of Ramkinker Baij namely the Santhal Family, Gandhi at Salt March etc., paintings of Nand Lal Bose works of Benode Behari MUKHERJEE.
Kala Bhavan also a panorama of Indian art. It’s a must see place in Shantiniketan

This place doesn’t need any demarcation. The buildings are painted with modern art, some illegible scribblings too. Probably the students try to convey their high level thoughts through these works of art. A couple of students were even making portraits of other students, some busy paintings pottery cups. One doesn’t need to enter the classrooms as the talent of these students aren’t confined in 4 walls.

This is a very beautiful place..serene and peaceful , its just what an educational center should be.many art installations can be seen,young adults at work ..one can spend hours exploring the place which is nothing less than paradise!!

During the visit within the Viswabharati campus, the most interesting sight would be the Kala Bhavana and around area ,no body should miss.Though visitors are not allowed within any buildings or room, there are enough paintings on the walls and sculptures scattered on the ground ,many of them by famous artists,.Only for these artistic creations the Santiniketan /Viswabharati tour is worth . One can have photographs and should. There is a canteen (only ) in this area for the students which is a relief to visitors too.

Although we couldn'tget inside ( closed for hols) grounds are very nice and black house with precious works by students of Ramkinker and contemporary are unique.

Well-kept, supported by meaningful captions of the most Fascinating structures, usually full of art students and their professors, allowing a full glimpse of the art and sculptural works of the great pioneers starting with Nandalal Bose, and Ram Kinkar. Truly a must for any visit to Shantiniketan

the art school, shaped like a typically bengali mud house with kala as in art and kala as in black, both being part of the name
the original art work has been made in black clay and then after being dried is pasted on the walls.
the students repair the same regularly.
strolled through it and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent.

Kala Bhavan is by far the most creative place inside the university campus. The paintings and carvings on the walls and the sculptors here and there are an absolute delight to watch.

“Kala” means black in Bengali. It's a black colored typical mud wall house, looks like a primary school in a village. But, I was surprised to witness the original sculptures and painting of my primary school book “Sahoj Path” after half century. Very nostalgic. This is a must-see place for me. My son liked this house very much and he took many pictures of it.

A little difficult for me to give an official answer as that can only be provided by the Kala Bhavan administration. I can only say from my own experience that Informal, tailor-made arrangements for individuals are not usually encouraged.
