Fantastic beach with all the amenities you need lifeguards, toilets, fish and chips, drinks and ice creams, amusements and crazy golf not forgetting the fabulous cliff lifts .

Large sandy beach but very crowded, particularly in school holidays. Parking expensive, but free at the top of the cliff by the Cliff Railway. This effectively covers the cost of travelling up and down and gives you an additional benefit (just watch for queues to travel back up and the hours of operation). Family Ticket £5, Individual £1.60. Both prices one way.

Clean, wide expanse of golden sand, plenty to do.. very impressed that there were beach showers to wash the salt off after a dip. Great little arcade, leading onto a lovely pier. Fish and chips, ice creams beach huts and deckchairs for hire - everything you would want from the beach..
There is a wonderful 1884 lift which for £1.60 an adult fare takes you up the cliff to the town.
The town is really cared for and the people are lovely! I was extremely impressed

Everyone knows that kids love sandy beaches, and Saltburn has a lovely sandy beach, which our grandchildren enjoyed. But it is worth looking around in the pools by the pillars of the pier - we found starfish - and also exploring the base of the cliffs on the other side of the beck (various fossils - too hard to extract, but worth seeing if you are interested).

We visited yesterday 29th August first time there, I had bought a print of Saltburn on Sea from Artist Lucy Pittaway and coasters etc and wanted to see the real thing.We were only staying in Ampleforth so decided to have an hours drive over for the afternoon. Plenty of car parks there, clean paths, people did use the bins provided and I saw the council chaps empty them, as they were full of fish and chip containers and cans. Happy children on the beach, family fun to be had. Only a few shops on the promenade mainly food/ drinks, but there is a shop to buy your bucket and spade. Surf board hire and wet suits hire. Toilets clean.Shower annd a little one to wash your feet and disabled toilet.
We walked passed the beautiful coloured beach huts to the end but then the smell of poo from the outlet was disgusting. The worry was people were swimming not far from the outlet. The council have to do some repairs to the lovely black wrought iron barrier that people lean on to look out to sea, it has broken in a few places. Also the metal sign post at the bend bottom near the sewage outlet is unreadable. But besides that I would definitely recommend this lovely seaside place.

Hired a beach hut several weeks before going hoping for good weather and we struck luckily. We arrived just after 10:30 to find the car park full, but luckily we managed to get into the small over flow carpark slightly further down the lane (£6.50 all day card/cash payments) .
We had children aged 4 to 13 and they all had an enjoyable day. We didn't leave until 6:30 and could have stayed longer due to the lovely weather.
Definitely recommend and definitely visiting again.

Lovely beach, clean and tidy. Lots of pebbles and sand when the tide is out. Car park does get quite busy but didn’t take us long to find a space. Car parking prices reasonable. Donkey rides on the beach were fab! My daughter loved them!

It’s so nice to pop down here when the tides out and let the doggies run wild!

Love quaint Saltburn and this first time visited when warm so lovely walk along the pier. Lovely beach

Really great beaches, popular with surfers and walkers, mostly dog-friendly and litter-free, would definitely recommend!

Definitely 4 stars - almost 5 - but not much shelter if the wind is blowing.

Hi, I wish to walk our dogs along the beach from Marske to Saltburn. Are there any restrictions? Many thanks.

You should be fine until you reach Saltburn, though the restrictions on Saltburn only start about 100 or so metres from the pier and it’s clearly sign posted - you should be fine
is the dog restricions in place now or can they still go on the beach thank you

There is restrictions for dogs from May to September but dogs can still be walked on the beach to the right of the pier as there were locals walking their dogs there too. There is also a far end part of beach near a pub which you can take the dogs too, near the other car park.

there are signs up telling you when you can and can't use a certain parts of the beach but it's only a small area that's restricted so there's plenty of beach left and prom to walk along there's no restrictions if you walk from the ship Inn towards the rocks or from the last slipway on the prom towards marske you have loads of lovely sandy beach and beautiful woodland walks off all the paths from the beach very dog friendly , I am a dog owner myself and use all of this area daily
