Sree Sundareswara Temple is located at Talap in Kannur, around 2.5km from Kannur town.
History: The designs of the Sundareswara Temple were made by Sri Chaithanyaall swami. Sree Narayana guru named Lord Shiva as Sree Sundereshwara by saying that all the people are beautiful, the place is beautiful thus named Lord Shiva as Sree Sunderehwara (God of beauty) in this temple. This temple was built on April 11 in the year 1916.
Arattu is the main festival here and the eight-day annual festival of the temple is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March- April). On the last day the Arattu (Holy Bath) ritual is held and is followed by a procession of caparisoned elephants and fireworks, which mark the end of the festival.
Construction work around the temple (Nadapandal) is undergoing now and hope to complete before the arattu festival.

Sundareswara temple located around 3-5 km from kannur city.This temple can be easily accessible by bus from kannur city .

Very famous temple of Kannur located in the heart of city. Its basically a Shiva temple but do have pratishtas of Ganesha, Ayyappa, Kali, Nagam etc. Apart from this there is a Srinarayana guru mandpam near by. Its a happening place and encourages lots of cultural activities through out the year

The Temple is right in the heart of the city. It draws decent crowds in normal days, and is exceptionally crowded during the Festival. Numerous cultural programmes are held during the festival time and the attains a carnival like atmosphere.

Sree Sundareswara Temple is one of the temples started by Sree Narayana Guru, the saint who devoted his life to uplift the downtrodden in Kerala. Hindu devotees a must visit place this Shiva Temple located in the middle of Kannur town Talap. Every year 7 days Uthsava(festival) is one of the main attractions each days Uthsava was celebrated by different desams (Villages)of Kannur each day, normally Uthsava will be in the moth of March end or beginning of April.
Normal days devotees from surrounding areas visit morning and evening, and Uthsava time thousands of peoples visits from all over Kannur. Lots of marriages are taken place from this temple, many years before this is the only place Hindu marriages taken place other than the homes, even now lots of Marriage halls in Kannur but many prefer at this temple first if hall available.

We stumbled on this one by accident. Its an amazing Shiva temple which just mesmerizes you. The men need to remove their shirt and enter the temple like most temples in Kerala. I didnt know about it but was nicely pointed out by the priest. It was a wonderful experience
