Fantastic place! Bus and train ride included in the price and all the exhibits were interesting - especially to those of us who can remmeber using some of the devices now considered museum pieces. Staff were brilliant as well. It's a must visit if in the area.

Superb museum set in a really beautiful setting. The staff were all so polite and the volunteers told us lots of information with such enthusiasm. We loved the train and bus rides. So much to do and see. Will definitely be back!

Although my interest in this museum was in the chalk quarrying, and most of the old pits are now overgrown, I was delighted to view all of the old kilns. I found the small chalk quarrying museum disappointing - it felt tired and lacked information. However, the other aspects of the greater museum were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the Communications display, the section on Electricity, the old buses, the display dealing with paving and roadmaking, and the narrow-gauge training ride. Of particular note, we would like to commend the gentleman in the lead display, from the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, who gave a clear and fascinating talk about the history of lead usage since the Bronze Age. The cafe in the museum was also good.

A lovely day at Amberley Museum yesterday as part of a church group trip.
The weather was warm and sunny and we had a really relaxing day exploring the interesting exhibits and every so often meandering back to the cafe for refreshments which were good quality and delicious. Thank you !

Really surprised how good this museum is!
We arrived early and to our surprise, there was a classic car meeting on at the museum. Some lovely cars to look at as we went between exhibits.
The staff were really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Some of the exhibits are manned and the staff told us all about the history on the items on display. The print shop needs a special mention as the staff there spent quite a while explaining the machinery they had on display, as well as demonstrating some of the equipment.
The Radio/TV exhibition was great and the Communications exhibit brought back so many memories- we never realised we were so old :)
The Bus, coach and vintage garage displays were brilliant, as was the railway display.
Food was reasonably priced and tasty, just a bit slow to be served (it was quite busy with all the car shop people there too)
We will be back as the place is so chilled out - it's an amazing place to spend a day.

My family and I really enjoyed coming here on a trip out, the museum was very interesting, it looked a lot into our local history and how it's shaped our way of life today. We had lots of fun on the bus and the steam train, we also enjoyed seeing the craftsmen and women making thing out of wood and clay.
We had a really lovely day and would definitely visit again.

Very interesting museum with more exhibits and range than expected. Walks are very nice and a very short pleasant rides in the train and bus. The sheer amount of items and the helplessness of the staff makes it a very good visit

Amberley is an amazing mixture of things. Firstly is it a heritage centre on Lime works in the UK. But then it has a great exhibition on Electricity, another on communications. Then there is the train museum, or the old coaches. Small railway ? Check, good cafe ? Check. craft centres ? check. I think the only thing you have to know is that it is mainly run by volunteers, so not all of the craft exhibits or workshops are open or manned at any one time. But a pleasant day out non the less.

Took a chance on this visit as the weather was very showery but Im glad we changed plans and visited. A large number of different attractions. I was impressed with the electricity and telephone attractions not demeaning the others. Bus and train rides as well and a good cafe.Volunteer staff very helpful and obviously enjoy their roles. Thanks and would recommend to others

Oui, le musée est ouvert du 10 au 12 mai. Nous organisons une mini-exposition le samedi 12 et un salon des véhicules commerciaux le dimanche 13 mai. Nous avons notre propre café sur place, mais il y a aussi de bons pubs à quelques pas du musée. Le musée est ouvert de 10h à 17h. Adultes £ 12.50, enfants £ 7. Sincères amitiés.

Most of our events are hosted on a weekend. We do not have any event planned on the Friday 22nd June, but on the Sat 23rd and Sun 24th June it is our Emergency Services Weekend. The museum itself has plenty to see on a standard open day.

Are dogs still welcome at the attraction? we have a well behaved Irish Water Spaniel. if they are still welcome are there any restricted areas?

Yes absolutely! We are the proud recipients of the Kennel Club "Most dog friendly day out" 2016 award. We ask that dogs except guide dogs stay outside our restaurant but we have plenty of outside seating where there is a water bowl for their refreshment.

A lot of information can be found on our website on the "visit us" tab and then "accessibility information".
Generally speaking and during the main season disabled visitors pay standard prices and carers (one per visitor) can come in free, but this might vary for pre-bookable ticketed events in (best to email or phone the office).
Exhibitors at our vehicle events can let us know in advance if they are blue badge holders and we will do our best to park them in a suitable place.
