Its a nice jaunt up the hill to begin with but well worth it for the views. The castle ruin would be worth a trip anyway, there's a reasonable amount to view, especially for free. The views are terrific

Atmospheric ruin with wonderful views, the castle is worth the climb up from the beach. The beach car park can be busy, so park instead at the first car park as you come round from the village and enjoy a short walk down to the main parking area and access to the castle path. There is also a nice refreshment trailer at this first car park.

This is one of many castles in the area. Kidwelly is the best preserved, but this one has a great location and better views. Parking is easy beside the Twyi estuary. The climb up is steady and on a good path. Signage is not great but access is free unlike Kidwelly.

Castle & grounds FREE, FREE parking, toilets and cafe.
Lovely beach below. Great Grounds to explore, and woodland/coastal walks.

A superb castle that really takes you back in time 1000 years! The tower that you can climb is spectacular, but just looking out over the estuary is amazing and makes you imagine history in the best of ways.

Its up quite a steep hill but not too bad - I have a child in a wheelchair and although not easy it is do-able. You can have a picnic on the grass & admire the beautiful view or just explore the ruins - either way its well worth a visit.

Really gorgeous views over the sands, very interesting history to the castle as well. We had a nice walk around with the dogs.

Visited Llansteffan beach and decided to take a walk up to the castle. Parking is free at the beach and it is a fair walk uphill to the castle from there, but that suited us and there were some good views of the bay from the castle. It was around 4:30 when we arrived, but the castle was open, and there were no signs of it closing when we left at around 5pm.

Great views from the top but the castle itself lacks care. As a Cadw member I would prefer to pay and have better signage and somewhere to sit when you get there. And it is an uphill trek from the village as there is NO vehicle access within 1/2 mile. Also not helpful to tell you that you can buy a guidebook from the village post office or beach cafe once you are almost up at the castle gates!!!!
