Even if you have no prior knowledge of Wilfred Owen and his work, you will be moved and affected by this simple memorial and museum. Take your time, reflect on its purpose, and absorb Owen’s ultimate message: the pity of war.

This is a must see - off the beaten track. The whole maison forestiere was funded by local people in the village - the architecture is simply beautiful and yet they have retained a simplicity to the place with the underground room where Wilfred Owen stayed the night before he died. The incription on the wall where he wrote his letter to his mother, the poems read in English and French and simultaneously portrayed on the walls. Hard to give this place enough praise especially as there was no charge! Go into Ors as well as walk around and see the spot on the canal where so many were killed just one week before the end of the war.

I am not sure what I think about the arty treatment of the old house where Wilfred Owen spent a night in late 1918, but I felt quite moved sitting in the cellar envisaging Owen and his comrades in those last weeks of the war.
My wife and I were spending the next 2 or 3 days visiting and reflecting on the horrors of WWI and Owen's poems were a moving start to these days. Highly recommended.

A good local restaurant when you are doing the Wilfred Owen
Experience.
We went the on the Centenary Day, having been on the canal at dawn, visited the cemeteries and an ecumenical service with goods walks in between. We were certainly ready for lunch!
A warm welcome and a good banter with the chef before getting down to business.
Starters of snails or the Coquelles were voted very good. The main courses were all acceptable but best described on the “rural/rustic”side!
Desserts were all great and much enjoyed.
This restaurant deserves a listing on its own!

The people responsible for creating this masterpiece should be very proud of themselves. It is a beautiful memorial to Wilfred Owen, his poems and to all those who lost their lives and made sacrifices for us during the Great War.

This house was re-envisioned since my previous visit before 2011 . Somebody with artistic genius took an ordinary house and turned it into something very special. The entrance spiral engraved with his last letter to his mother is heart wrenching . The inside is haunting .

Visited Ors today and walked the 6-7km Wilfred Owen Remembrance trail. Unfortunately the Forester's House was not open (no reason given!), but the walk was well worth it. The Ors British Cemetery was very moving and is located very close to where Wilfred Owen was killed on the canal. Also visited the communal cemetery where he is buried. The walk took about 2.5 hrs.

With a 14:00 opening we were able to grab a quick lunch at the pub across the road. Good choice and good service. Lady from lock Tourist Office arrived on time at 14:00. Discussed our plans and gave us a couple of guides. We opted for the pleasant and interesting 6.5 km walk to visit local landmarks iassociated with Wilfred Owen MC. French marking of walk routes is sometimes a challenge as I have already discovered on GR distance routes. Enjoyed the fresh air before the guide met us and took us to the atmospheric cellar used by Wilfred Owen and company before his final act of war. We then visited the house for an approx 45 minute automated recitation of his Poetry in English and French. Some problems with AV equipment - we were warned beforehand about this so we're happy to visit on that basis.be aware that there is no opt out on language you are listening to. Overall a very good experience. Owen's message have a powerful resonance for today's listener so please take in the entire presentation. Would not feel confident about taking teenagers who hadn't received comprehensive background to the events and experiences of WW1.
