‪A fairly good experience, it was clear that the animals were well cared for. Worth a visit if you're in the area.‬

‪Me and my 22 year old daughter visited this place on a whim yesterday! Absolutely blown away, the commitment and dedication to these animals is fantastic, it was worth the £1.50 entrance fee just to see the parrots at the entrance, we will definitely be returning, also we’re more than keen to share animal history and knowledge, you guys are great.‬

‪We took our two kids along to the 'Tortoise Hibernation' workshop at the Viaduct sanctuary today, and aswell as learning lots, thoroughly enjoyed walking around looking at the animals. Despite being busy, the staff were all so friendly, and happy to take the time to tell us how some of the animals came to be there. We'll definitely be back!‬

‪Despite living within twenty minutes by road this was the first time visit with grandchildren aged 10 and 2 and daughter. The staff are very helpful and willing to talk to explain about the animals. There are tortoises, goats, chickens, meerkats, birds and various reptiles. A small play area could be cleaner and appealing but it suffices. There is plenty of parking and a cafe onsite. All in all this needs the support to fund its upkeep and we will be back again.‬

‪We throughly enjoyed the experience. The sister climbed onto our laps and we watched them play by our feet.
What made this experience more was the knowledge of the owner, who explained how the Meerkats came to be at the Sanctuary and answered many questions about the Meerkats and the other animals in the Sanctuary.

‪So for those of you who haven't been to the sanctuary or not been for a while here's a run down of what's at the tropical paradise garden that is viaduct animal sanctuary right now.

❤️ The main entrance to the sanctuary is through the sliding door in the green building. This is where you pay the £1.50 entry per person and will find the parrots. There are African Grey's, green Amazon parrots, macaws and a white parrot. Most of the parrots are life long residents and you can ask the volunteers their names and story of why they're in rescue. There are 13 parrots in total. To enter the main sanctuary go through the back patio doors.🐦

❤️ The next green building is the reptile house, a new door sign is in the pipeline. In here there are snakes, lizards, millipedes, stick insects and tarantulas. On open days, parties and booked handling sessions you can meet some of our animals closer up but on a normal sanctuary day the animals are not out for the public to handle but can be easily seen.🦎🐍

❤️On a sunny day you will see the small fenced area next to the purple bench filled with lots of tortoises. They are mainly European but there is one leopard tortoise and sometimes the smaller of the giant tortoises will be in there too.🐢

❤️ If you re join the main path the two doors on the larger sheds are the the tortoise room and the giants house. These are not usually open to the public but ask if the tortoises aren't out and you want to see them.🐢

❤️ In the aviary near the tortoise house lives 2 ferrets, Fred and Trixie. They are playful but also love their sleep.

❤️ Opposite the ferrets is the monkey house, this is currently being upgraded to give Dave access to an outside space like the other 2 have. At the moment there is a boarding ferret you will see in there. 🐒

❤️Following the path next to the monkey house you will come to the coati mundi house, there is just one resident coati and his name is bubbles. Please be aware bubbles will climb and look super cute but keep your fingers away.

❤️ Next door to bubbles is one of the newer residents, Wolfie. Wolfie is an albino racoon dog whose still settling in but is beautiful.

❤️Wolfies neighbours are Bebo and Diesel, two racoon dog brothers. For those of you who have visited before yes there did used to be a pond there.

❤️At present there are two foxes next door to them they are nocturnal and do not like to being disturbed when sleeping.🦊

❤️In the middle of the sanctuary, to the rear of the new experience room, are the two meerkats, brother and sister, Cole and linguine. They are super friendly and meerkat experiences can be booked to have some time close up with them (10yrs+ £49 per person)

❤️Next to the meerkats is bandit, I love her so much. Bandit was the first racoon dog the sanctuary took on. She lives alone due to disliking others but please feel free to ask if you want to know more.

❤️ In front of the meerkat house there is the turtle pond, on warm days you will see them basking in the sunlight.

❤️Next to the pond are the resident guinea pigs, they have the play house at night and access to the grass area during the day.

❤️Next to the play park are the aviaries and in the far corner is Barney the Barn owl.🦉

On the opposite side of the site are two goats,Treacle and Henry who are also the sanctuary's however the pig is owned privately and the chicken rescue are separate and also have the small animals in hutches/coops near the car park drive.

☀️On a sunny day you may see Tank the giant tortoise free roaming or in the field.

When visiting always ask any questions and if you have any worries please ask or talk about them. The sanctuary is there for the animals and is not like a zoo or farm park. The sanctuary space is used by the community and open to the public 10-3 seven days a week.

So thank you to all the volunteers and everyone who makes the sanctuary what it is.❤️‬

‪Myself and my 2 grandchildren were bought a Meerkat experience for xmas, we came to this little sanctuary which is totally run by volunteers, Ade the guy who ran our experience knows his stuff and s passionate about what he does and made it fun for all of us. Well done to all concerned, keep up the good work. They take on animals when people cannot look after them any more. Would we return yes but we do not live local. Cafe looked nice although we did not use.‬

‪We spent a day at the sanctuary doing the ‘exotic animal keeper experience’, The site is run by volunteers and relies on donations, so my not be a slick as some zoos but the animals are expertly cared for, the knowledge of the staff is second to none and their enthusiasm contagious.

I would highly recommend the experience as a present for any animal or reptile lover. and at £50, is a fraction of price charge elsewhere.‬

‪We saw the event advertised on Facebook & thought it would be something different. It was such good fun, arts & crafts, biscuit decorating, face paints, visit from Santa clause and we got to see snakes, geeko & bearded dragon and learn all about these Exotic Animal. Then we had some amazing homemade coffee & walnut cake with a hot brew. We'd spent less than £10 for the entire afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Looking forward to their next event!‬
