If you are passing through it may be worth a visit...otherwise it is not worth it. Besides the caravanserai there is nothing else even a village center

Such a beautiful and meditative caravanserai that one does not want to leave. The resonance and pure symmetry are a delight for the senses and it is easy to imagine how alive this place must have been in ancient times. Highly recommended for lovers of architecture and Beauty.

Sultankhan is located in the city of Sultankhan, which is in Aksarai district. The hotel was built in 1229 by Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alayeddin Qeyqubad I. Later, in 1278, it was managed by Sultan Giyaseddin Qeykhusrev II. The hotel has a beautiful portal with geometric patterns, and inside it resembles the Madrasa Huck in Sivas. Right under the pointed arch is written the prayer "Elminnethul Lillah," which translates as "The power belongs to Allah."
In the first inscription of the caravanserai you can see the hexagonal medallions on both sides of the ornamental arch that surrounds the niche of the outer portal. Going through a long hallway takes you into the yard. There are car spaces, an arched hall on the left, passenger rooms, recreation areas, two baths and warehouses. In the centre of the courtyard is a mosque with four arches – an excellent example of Seljuk decorative arts.
On the west wall, at the end of the courtyard, there is a portal that is no different in decoration than the entrance. There are niches to his right and left, too. Inscriptions are placed on arches and niches. By entering through a low arched door, you can enter the winter part. This area is vaulted and divided into four short sections with square cassettes and five pots. The central hall is larger and wider, and at the top it is covered by a dome that rests on an octagonal drum with pendants.
The dome light inside illuminates two windows: four on one side and three on the bottom wall. These windows have no other source of light or air. The interior portal is in excellent condition, decorated with geometric patterns and relief sockets. As an example, they took Karataikhan's internal portal and accurately reproduced it. This suggests that both portals were made simultaneously with other parts of the hall during the reign of Alaaddin Keykubat. The dome, which rests on mukarnas bevels, adds interest to the simple stone minaret in the hall with stucco. But unfortunately, the dome cone collapsed.

A must if you move from Cappadocia to Pamukkale, the partly renovated Sultanhani Caravanserai housed caravans passing along the Silk Road in ancient times. Currently its rooms are used for exhibitions and small craft shops, while the right side is occupied by a bar. Not to be missed, however, to have a broader view of the magnificent Turkish land.

We stopped at this caravanserai on our way to Pammukale from Cappadocia. It has been renovated very well , clearly visible the winter area and the summer area where the caravans stopped , very impressive

Disappointing Experience with Overcharging and Rude Guard.
I visited the Sultanhani Caravansarai and was extremely disappointed. The guard was very rude and demanded 60 Lira for entrance, despite the website clearly stating the fee is 5 Lira. This discrepancy and the unwelcoming behavior really soured the experience. Such a beautiful historic site deserves better management and fair pricing.

During the transfer to Konya we stopped to visit the Sultanhani Caravanserai, whose structure is very well preserved. Although the visit was rather quick, it was worth a stop.

13th century fortified structure on the way to Konya. It is one of the three monumental caravanserais, considered one of the best examples of Seljuk architecture. Refuge for the caravans of travelers who found refuge and refreshment here. You enter through a monumental door, decorated with muqarnas, into an internal courtyard in the center of which there is a square mosque. At the end of the courtyard is the beautiful stable area (now a showroom for a collection of extraordinary carpets). On the right the area that was used by the merchants' shops (now bars). On the left are the common rooms for travelers (now bare). Beautiful.

This caravanserai built in the 13th century AD is one of the largest and well preserved of the Seljuk caravanserai on the Silk Road from Asia to Europe. It is usually visited as a break on the trip from Konya to Cappadocia but I found it very interesting in itself. The exterior walls, entrance and winter hall are imposing.
The tall walls with an even taller intricately carved entrance way lead into a courtyard used in summer. On one side of the courtyard there were a number of rooms which were mostly empty. On the other side there was a large double-arched walkway over a restaurant area, quiet when we were there because of Ramadan, which had excellent reproductions of arts from the Seljuk period. After the courtyard is a deep hall with three sets of arches and a small dome in the middle which was used in winter. There was an extensive display of old carpets on each of the pillars inside and many had dates and construction information which I found interesting.
