Great visit! It is exciting, well staged, we feast throughout this superb walk. We learn a lot about the lives of Tyrolean peasants, it is remarkably done.

Visit on a 3.5 km hilly circuit
18 Buildings from various periods.
This museum is very well designed with information in D,E and French. Presentation films with French subtitles at the entrance Complementary projections in some buildings and Guide to the site to be scanned. Not recommended for PMRs due to the topography and especially the stairs and threshold in farms.
We enjoyed this moment nature and out of time.

An excellent visit not to be missed. The site is beautiful and the old farms give the landscape a postcard look. Not only is the walk very nice but we also learn a lot about the history, traditions and customs of the region. It is very informative without being “school”. A very good time, a beautiful discovery on the road to the holidays.
And in addition EVERYTHING is available in French! You have no more excuses not to make a jump.
Approximate duration of visit: they indicate 1h30 at the reception of the site. We stayed there 2h30.
Trip Tip: bring your phone and headsets to download the free app and the guided tour in French.

An interesting outdoor museum with fascinating, incredibly old houses which give a lovely insight into Alpine life through the ages. There was only a vending machine for drinks when we went so take food and drink if you want to. Also stay on the bus long enough at the Kramsach stops as there are several and there is a stop actually at the museum - we got off too early! A lovely way of spending a couple of hours.

Getting there is easy, a free car park offers plenty of parking. From the car park, the path goes a little uphill towards the entrance; those using a stroller should definitely use the street (right) and not the forest path (left), which is easier.
The entrance is a few minutes' walk away and after paying a very friendly lady, you can set off. The museum offers a circular path that leads past the many buildings. Every now and then you have to leave the path to get to a farmstead that is a little off the beaten track.
Each building has an information board with a wide range of information, providing clear and well-presented information about its age, floor plan and additional special features. The highlight is of course the fact that you can walk into these buildings (which for me, at 1.92 m tall, means: duck your head).
I had absolutely no idea how differently the individual building periods affect the layouts and floor plans: It is very exciting and, above all, very commendable that the information boards limit themselves to the essential information in a concise form and supplement it with pictures. In many museums, you eventually have the problem that you don't want to read endless information about each exhibit.
The distribution of the farms over a relatively large area (there are also a few uphill and downhill sections) also makes the museum particularly attractive. Even small chapels and a school - a very exciting facility - have found their way into the museum.
The large number of farms is particularly impressive because they come from completely different parts of the country, altitudes and years of construction. A lot of commitment has gone into creating an outstanding museum here, and you can see the attention to detail in every exhibit.
Is there anything to criticize or a suggestion for improvement? A clear no and an absolute recommendation that, in my opinion, is worth even longer journeys.

The Museum Tiroler Bauernhöfe is an eco-museum bringing together old Tyrolean farms. In reality they come from different valleys in Tyrol, where they were dismantled and then reassembled in Kramsach, in an area of several hectares. You can visit around thirty houses, chapels, sheds, mills, sawmills, etc. dating between the 15th and 19th centuries, some furnished. You can also visit a school dating back to 1818.
This is reminiscent of the living conditions of French peasants not so long ago (for us in the Lot): several people per room, a hearth for cooking and heating, the livestock underneath, the pigs under the porch etc. Adjoining: a bakery, a barn etc.
Very informative, especially for children. Everything is hilly, very green and very pleasant. For our part we spent 3 hours there.
If you are feeling a little peckish when you come out: very good restaurant (and superb ice cream) in an idyllic setting on the edge of a small lake: the Fischerstube 2.5 km away towards Kamsach.

We visited the Museum on a lovely day .what a treat we had in store. Not only was it in a lovely area, but the farmhouses were so authentic and interesting
Showing how farmers of the area lived in the 1500=1600 centuries
To think it had all been dismantled and reassembled the buildings is amazing
We took over two hours at a steady pace to walk round ,followed by having lunch at restaurant on way out
Well worth a visit

Does anyone know how to get there by public transport (coming from Innsbruck direction)? I can't see anything on the website.
