Before paying visit to Ljubljana ( our first visit Slovenia) investigated the transportation thru railways to the near destinations, such as Lake Bled, Koper, trieste etc.
In spite of all our supports we could not rich any information at all regarding the time used between the destinations , time tables and the wages also.
This also apply to the bus transportation in Slovenia.
Just the info we got thru internet " - in slovenia better to rent a car to travel around as public transport not advisable"
When arrived Ljubljana our first questionary was about trains and buses
To go to Lake Bled and Bohinj rented minivan with driver guide. It was rather expensive but it worths as difficult to get around especially in the middle of February.
But when decided to go to Trieste preferred the bus line, which took one and half hour
and wanted to try also the railway.
We are not recommended the train alleging that they are so slow, better walk faster that the train, and not come mostly in due time as per their schedule.
At the end decided to go and back to Kranj, 20 km distance from Ljubljana, The train we took was comfortable and in normal fast but stopped almost ten stations and the travel between Ljubljana and kranj took halh an hour.
any how we were happy. T he wages also are so reasonable ( return Kranj, for people grand total Euro 20.64 )
Later wanted to go to the south direction but neither we had time nor were advised any destination and were said slower than the north direction, for instance it is said Koper may take 3-4 hours.

Let's be honest. Pragersko isn't ever going to be a mainstream tourist destination. The unremarkable little town with its big but also unremarkable railway station wouldn't really invite you to stop, other than for this excellent old loco on display, just next to the level crossing.
But Pregersko is also rather interesting in that it was the main junction on the C.19th railway network hereabouts, where the Imperial Austrian Südbahn line from Vienna to Trieste (a superb feat of engineering, in its day), joined the main line through Zagreb to Budapest.
You can still travel from Koper (the main Slovenian port and not so far from Trieste, now in Italy) to Budapest. And probably to Vienna as well. If so, you'll pass through Pragersko. Look out for the loco "Budapest"!
