Genuine Art Deco gem. We love visiting older cinemas and this is a classic. First visit for us, certainly won’t be the last. Ticked all our boxes- great staff, comfy seats and great sound quality. Loved it!

A vintage movie theater with fine films, we always have fun doing a matinee followed by nearby dinner.

Roseville Cinema is a grand old building dating to the early 1900s. Originally it served as the local Town Hall. Various events, like dances and meetings were held there. In later years it became a "Picture Theatre" and in 1995 it was converted into twin cinemas. It shows an excellent range of high quality films and is quite a popular venu. We visited very recently and saw a lovely film (The Father).

The grand old lady is looking a bit tired these days, but she still retains that old-world charm from yesteryear. I have been coming here for over 15 years, and it's still my fave cinema.
Roseville Cinema is quieter and less commercialised than your usual shopping centre cinema experience. Even their pre-movie ads about no smoking and no shoes on seats are enjoyable - as they use scenes from old cowboy movies to nicely get the point across.
Original art-deco design and furnishings from the 1930s makes it feel like a step back in time. This is how our childhood cinema experiences used to be - complete with organ on stage in Cinema 1 and a Greek statue similar to the ones that adorn the State Theatre. There's also appealing waiting areas outside each cinema.
Another important draw card is their selection of excellent art-house and foreign movies. I often wonder why these films never made it to mainstream cinema. So many people are missing out on really good movies!
It's important to note that the cinema no longer accepts cash payments - so bring your Eftpos card with you! During my last visit, there was a small fee of 12c added on, and the staff were very upfront in notifying me of this.
The friendly staff are always obliging, and have put stringent C-19 practices in place. Their helpful Instagram page keeps me up to date on the latest releases, and they also take part in cheaper tickets on Tuesdays.
There are two cinemas available, and Cinema 1 accommodates people with mobility issues. In a nod to its heritage, both cinemas have retained their crying rooms.
Roseville Cinema is a convenient five-minute walk from Roseville Station, or there's parking in the back streets off the Pacific Highway. There's also a selection of nice eateries within a stone's throw of the cinema - such as Lebanese, Indian/Nepalese and Thai.
If I had to grapple about anything, I would suggest that the staff close the door to their cluttered office (not a good look as you're walking through the front doors). I miss not buying my tickets at the original old-style ticket booth, but I realise it's more convenient and economical having patrons pay at the candy bar. Maybe a bit of a refurbishment would ensure this grand old lady stays in good shape for years to come.

Love this old theatre with it beautiful decor and easy access. Surrounded by lovely restaurants and cafes.

The latest movies that probably cater for adults more than children. Comfortable seating. Candy Bar is a bit dated, limited in selection and expensive. Be warned they charge a transaction fee even for EFTPOS. No wheelchair access which may be a problem for some.

If you are sick of Hoyts and all the Hollywood blockbusters then this is cinema for you . It’s always got interesting movies , old style cinema . You need to sacrifice Lux seats .though and parking can sometimes be a bother

It is a nice theatre to see a movie as it had ambience and atmosphere but it is now a little tired. Plenty of restaurants nearby for dining before or after the movie.

Lovely cinema with lots of charm and character I had caught the train down from Newcastle, as All Is True was not screening in any cinemas in Newcastle, it was well worth the trip, the movie was excellent and the cinema staff very friendly.
