Virkelig et besøg værd. Det er virkelig smuk og det er værd at give sig god tid til at gå rundt og studerer alle de fantastiske detajer der gemmer sig uden på templet. Det er muligt mod et lille beløb at få en guide med rundt.

The temple built by the Hoysala kings in the 12th century AD is one of the finest examples of temple architecture. Belur , a taluka in Hassan district is about 200 kms away from Bangalore . The road is fairly good. It is situated in a large complex surrounded by wall with a large Gopuram. Once inside there are multiple temples though the Chennakeshava is the main attraction. It is intricately designed with beautiful sculptures. One has to take off shoes outside , which creates difficulty as the stones on the floor get hot on summer days.

An awesome representation of Hoysala construction and sculpting. Belur specifically is well restored and the detailing of the stonework should stun anyone who has a keen eye.
It looks like each piece of stonework has life, blood and expression & a story to tell.
Kudos to the Hoysala kings and India/Mysore kings for being able to restore the site.
A must-visit for every Indian.
